New Journey Rules - Ideas from AiMe

The unique One Ring rules set invites tinkering and secondary creation. Whilst The One Ring works brilliantly as written, we provide this forum for those who want to make their own home-brewed versions of the rules. Note that none of these should be taken as 'official'.

Arkat and Ghorin, did you (or anyone else) use these rules? How did you find them?

Hi Rich!

Your dropbox links do not work anymore. Could you re-upload the files please?

Cheers

Hi Rich!

I can't find any of these links to be working. Could you upload a new one? :-) Thanks.

I looked at the rules in your TOR additions thread and I share many of your opinions about the default rules, as well as thinking AiME has many promising Ideas.

I will try these out when my players journey to Esgaroth next week and tell you how it goes.

Sorry, only just seen the posts here regarding links...

Always best to use the first post in my Resources Thread for active links to any of my stuff: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=62

Cheers.

They worked rather well, for the most part. My players accused me of using these because they were not getting "pummeled" enough by the old rules.

We got one combat encounter between Rhosgobel and the Elf Gate and two hazards in Mirkwood: an encounter with an enemy in Mirkwood, where the Scholar of Minas Tirith exchanged a battle of words with a Black Numenorean on some vague errend and a dreadful scene where they found the grisly remains of a skirmish under the trees.

They opted to use light gear through the free lands, and they used heavy gear through the forest. I liked the peril and journey's end roll. They also liked the rolls to mitigate negative effects based on their Fellowship role. And overall rolls to reduce Fatigue were seen as more fun than rolls to avoid it.

Hi Sivart, that's really great to 'hear'. I'm glad your players could see some of the benefits this brought to the table for them and with the added complexity and options it should make it feel more involving from a mechanical sense.
