A shout out to the contributors

Post by Aiwendil » Sun Jul 14, 2013 6:46 pm

I would like to extend my most sincere thanks to those fine contributors who are behind the development and release of A guide to Trait Usage and the two cultural add-ons (Rangers of the North and Men of Dorwinion).

I have just printed those out (went through an entire ink cartridge in the process!) and am utterly impressed with the quality (writing style, illustrations, additional rules, etc).

Like others I suspect, I am grateful for all the tools, supplements, and other support material generated, and subsequently shared, with the community.

You guys (and gals?) rock!

It's peoples' appreciation, like you've just taken the time to express here, that makes it all worthwhile. So, thank you for doing that. :)

I actually enjoy working on them and try to maintain the design/style of everything I do so that when put together they look like one big rulebook - I'm a bit obsessive like that! I'm particularly proud of the "Additional Rules" pdf that I put together from my own writings and those of others on this board. It was a real challenge selecting the different ideas and rules enhancements and bringing them together in one cohesive whole.

... Sorry about the printer ink usage! It could have been worse; I could have kept the brown/parchment-style quality of the actual C7 rulebooks. Now that would devour ink!

It was certainly worth an ink cartridge... and plastic sleeves... and a binder... ;) It all comes together nicely (using the same format across 'products' is also very much appreciated!).

Just curious, are there other house-rules (new or refinements), cultures, supplements, etc in the pipe? Considering the quality of the fan-made material, you can't fault me for wanting more!... :D

I'm working on a conversion of an old Lord of the Rings adventure, "Dawn Comes Early", which I used in my hobbits-only campaign "Three's Company". It probably won't be immediately useful for many other people but I did it as an exercise in seeing how easy other adventures were to convert across to TOR and I think it'd be useful for one-off events like conventions or just as a break from a main campaign. At the very least it could be cribbed for ideas.

I'm also working on putting together a translated French campaign with another poster (Meneldor) on here. "Caran Gaur" is in three parts so I'll be editing them, adding alternate advice, artwork, etc and publishing them one at a time.

There are about 3 Rohirrim cultures floating around. I still want to read through all of them and try and put together one for my own game that takes the best ideas from all three.

I could put together a little mini supplement based on the idea of "Patron Benefits" that various people contributed to on the old TOR forums not too long ago. I'm using it in my game so elements have been playtested.

I know Ferretz is hard at work here on a 'crafting' rules set. If he doesn't do his own pdf I'd be more than happy to do it for him.

Poosticks7 is working on a mini supplement to do with Orcs. My guess is that it'll be around 'orc tribes' and some mechanical differences between each of them. Again, happy to pdf it for him.

Can't think of owt else.

@Rich, you recently joked with one of the other fans (IIRC it was Robert) about his getting busy & posting his work on here so we can all use it :)

Well, I'll do the same with you & say that I'm looking forward to seeing your conversion of Dawn Comes Early.

Hey, no fair, don't let him off the hook! ;)

... Finishing 'Dawn Comes Early' is first on my list though.

I like to aim high and fail utterly! Seriously, I will endeavour to do the above but it'll be months rather than weeks to realise. I do enjoy doing it though. Everyone here is always really supportive, friendly, and appreciative so I genuinely like doing stuff for us all to use and most of my work is just editing, co-ordinating, and pulling stuff together. Others make the considerable creative efforts.
