Finished reading the Adventurers Book, great stuff!!! Some hazy areas around Travelling and Fatigue Tests for sure, but I think I can manage. And it might be clear once I read the Loremaster Book... or maybe not. Here is my Rules Question: Advancement points... It seems page 120 (Character Development) is completely lost when the process of spending these points are described on page 170 (Heroic Development). p120:
p171:
Now first I noted that page 171 doesn't mention Skill Groups at all... does that mean I can spend my Advancement points whereever I like and not just in the group I earned them in? Second Looking at the table on page 171... I can buy absolutely Nothing for 3 points, and 3 points is all I'm ever going to earn during an Adventure phase... what's up with that? Third, according to page 171, remaining points are collected and not used are stored in one and the same box.... that would mean they absolutely "lose" their Skill Group "tag" (if that ever meant anything). All in all... I'm confused about how these two pages relate to each-other... they don't seem to connect at all if you ask me. Some clarifications would be nice. /wolf -------------------- "Pain, as the billing vouchsafes, is painful..."

If you make a memorable test using a Common Skill, put a tick next to the Skill Group. The second is harder to get than the first. The third is harder still. You can't get more than 3 per Skill Group in one Adventuring Phase (to promote diversity).
At the end of the Advancement Phase i.e the Fellowship Phase, add all your ticks to you Advancement Points total. You can now spend them freely. If not spent, you keep them just like XP. You also delete all your ticks by Skill Group after doing this, meaning the three tick limit is only per Adventuring Phase. -------------------- “There is nothing like looking, if you want to find something. ... Ok, so Skill Groups are simply there to (you say Promote) Froce Diversity?
Ok... sound reasonable. Thank you. /wolf -------------------- "Pain, as the billing vouchsafes, is painful..."

Skill Groups have other purposes as well, such as being the way NPCs are statted and Favour Skills for Callings. But yeah, given you can spend Advancement Points on any Skill, it makes sense that spamming the same Skill over and over may not be as beneficial as a more diverse and flexible approach. -------------------- “There is nothing like looking, if you want to find something. ... I have not gotten that far in the Loremasters Book yet. But it sounds good to me. And I like the fact that you more or less have to create well-rounded characters to be able to advance. One-Trick-Ponies should not work well in this setting. /wolf -------------------- "Pain, as the billing vouchsafes, is painful..."

Well rounded in execution not advancement. You can spend the Advancement Points whereever you want. Also, remember that failing spectacularly, especially in pursuit of a Trait, is highly likely to earn you an Advancement Point. -------------------- “There is nothing like looking, if you want to find something. ... I don't think you do. You can pick a Mastery Virtue called "Gifted" to raise a Favoured Attribute value by 1 point. and since this is a Mastery you can pick it more than once. Virtues are selected when you raise your Wisdom... with XP... so there is where you have it. /wolf -------------------- "Pain, as the billing vouchsafes, is painful..."

You can't improve your base Attributes though you can raise your Favoured Attributes through the Virtue Gifted and Endurance through the Virtue Resilience, both on page 124 of the AB. -------------------- “There is nothing like looking, if you want to find something. ...
