I've been writing an adventure over the past few weeks. Its suppose to take place a year and a half after the marsh bell. So far this is what I have...

The party gathers in lake town day of the blackarrow and they hear rumors of a a terror that stalks the woodmen of rhosgobel they travel there to investigate and try to help. There ambushed along the way by some orcs on the way there. When they reach rhosgobel they are stop by 2 guards at the gates. The second the party mentions the terror that is stalking them they turn white with fear and let them in. Soon after getting into rhosgobel armed woodmen direct them to the great hall. there the party talks to the council of elders. The council tells them whats going on that its a giant wolf and how its killing people and directs them to radaghast. Radaghast tells them to come back later. Later that night there is a great feast. The feast come to an abrupt end when there is a blood curdleing howl. Rhosgobel prepares for battle and heads to the gates of the town. A bunch of wargs come a few woodmen die. Then there is another blood curdling howl and out of the darkness walks a gigantic wolf. anyone with shadow-lore knows that this is not a normal wolf. all the party members have to make fear check. The wolf walks up to the head of the council, who has slain many wargs. the wolf stands up on his back legs growls (which the growls sounds as if the wolf is saying "die now!") he kills the head of the council. At that moment radaghast comes and a flash of light erupts from his staff and the giant wolf flees. Radghast tells the party to meet him in his house. Radghast gives the party a bundle of old lembas bread (the party only loses half the fatigue the rest of the adventure) and tells them this foe is beyond any of them and is not of the natural world and tells them to seek Elrond in Imladris to gain council on how to defeat this terror.

Thats all I have so far. Next I was thinking the party would head for the high pass incounter some beornings fight a troll or some orcs. Maybe when they start crossing the highpass they would enounter a dunadain also on his way to rivendell (the party wouldnt know that he was a dunadain until later) The party would eventually make there way to rivendell. I was thinking that the adventure would end with the party sitting in on a meeting of the white council. The party would get more info about the hound of mirkwood and the gathering shadow and a sense of the things to come. Then it would go to the fellowship phase and the party would all gain rivendell as a sanctuary and elrond as a patron.

I was gonna have the party somewhat working with the white council to combat the shadow through out my campaign and later they will eventually confront the hound of mirkwood later in my campaign. But for now Radaghast and Gandalf are holding the wolf at bay.

I don't have any idea where I'm gonna go from here but I was wondering what people though of what I have so far?

Sounds like the Beast of Mirkwood! smile.gif

It's a good premise and gets the PCs face-time with a bunch of canonical characters, which is always fun. My group would want to have more choice of what to do - a lot of what you've described so far happens to other people with the PCs watching, or the PCs don't have much choice in what happens to them. Which is fine for some groups, but it's something you need to be aware of.

Ya I know I was gonna use this adventure as a way to set the stage and give them an idea of whats going on. I was gonna give them a few adventures where they are the center of attention then come back to working with the white council later. I was thinking of doing more mundane things like helping woodelves with a spider problem and helping them regain some of mirkwood. or helping a lakeman found an inn in the wilderness that the party encountered on the road. Or maybe be hired as caravan guards.
