The longer I wait, the more foolish I feel. I had the boxed set in my hands at GenCon. But being frugal, I told myself I could wait a few weeks, as I would just order from Amazon and save a bunch of money. It can't be but a couple of weeks away I told myself. Ugh! Why didn't I spend the little extra cash and bring one home with me? I have the pdfs now, but I loathe reading pdfs from a computer. I can only read a couple of pages before eyestrain kicks in. Like the rest of you, I just now wait, wishing I would have grabbed one (or ten) sets when I was at GenCon.

I did the same thing. I decided to wait a few weeks to buy it from my FLGS, and I really regret that decision now!

The irony? The guy from my FLGS had someone pick him up a copy from Gen Con...

I waffled at GenCon too, but after talking to Francesco I went ahead and bought it. I'm SO glad I did!

See, if a retail store owner buys a book from Gencon, that's a pretty big hint that you should grab it when you can smile.gif

C7 did a remarkable thing for TOR and made advanced preorders available for non-Gencon attendees. I applaud this idea as someone who is also geographically challenged smile.gif

My "local" store just replied to my enquiry stating that the One Ring will ship to them next week and be available mid-October. They are also initiating their memebership with the Bit & Mortar program so I will go ahead an order a copy with them and get the pdf's for the iPad. I will keep my $20 cheaper Amazon order which is currently due in December as my Players copy. It will be great to finally get to read this thing and see what the fuss is about - hey, an added bonus, in the unlikely event my players don't like what they see I can cancel my Amazon order if required - win win really smile.gif

Past precedent says that Amazon should be getting them in around early to mid November if they are hitting FLGS now.

You might be in luck. Someone here is reporting that Amazon is confirming shipping in 2 days time: http://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?595565...79#post14511379

Just for clarity - .com or .co.uk?

weirdness abounds. C7 are in the UK. US Amazon is delivering before UK Amazon has even given me a date.

Indeed. Even in the US, it's weird. Amazon is delivering before the game distributors have it in stock (much less your local FLGS).

I'm thinking of ordering another one just in case I mess up one. I love these books and don't want anything to happen to them. Except for them to be played with.

I thought that rather bizarre too - also Amazon UK are still quoting a price of £39.99. Given that Fabled Lands was marked as unavailable from when it came out until Sept when it suddenly went to dispatched overnight, I'd like to have some idea of the Amazon price before it suddenly gets charged to me.

That's odd too. I was quoted £33.99.

At £39.99 there's no reason not to get it from C7 themselves.

Later edit: Just called Amazon.CO.UK. They still couldnt give me a date and when i mentioned people in the states were getting it he told me the old chestnut "we're a different company to Amazon.COM."

He offered to refund it into vouchers.. I said no thanks.. so he sent it up to his boss who apologised and said he couldnt understand why US Amazon was getting all its pre-orders out yet no one in the UK had theirs. He is currently crediting the money back to my account and as soon as it clears I'll order from Angus and the boys.

My initial order said £33.99 but then Amazon cancelled it, as they had no shipping information. I went back to look for it and found it listed at £39.99. I assume that price will drop as they are just quoting RRP until they get some definite information - that's happened to me several times before e.g. for Fabled Lands and Madness at Gardmore Abbey.

you sure they cancelled it? My order disappeared for two weeks, I called and they said they didnt have it but when i checked under open orders a day later it reappeared. Either way Amazon.co.uk aren't showering themselves in glory.

Hm, I think you are right - Amazon did send me several mails saying that it was delayed, and then a final one on 23/09 to say that they had no shipping information at all but when I check it is still the same order date.

Well bookdepository came through, dispatched on Sat (48 hours from order, as they said), arrived this morning (Monday). I've had a quick read through and it looks pretty good to me so far.
