So, I was browsing LOTR fansites today and discovered a brilliant article on healing in Middle-earth. I particularly appreciated the information on the elfstone, though I was disappointed that the author overlooked the citation.

Hi Mordagnir. I agree, this article is the definitive word on all aspects of in Tolkien. The author has spent a lot of time in roleplaying Elves (I think Play-by-Forum, I think on The Lord of the Rings Fanatics Plaza) concentrating on one or more healer and minstrel characters. That mode of RPGing isn't to everyone's taste -- not really to mine -- but it does work better for character interaction and exposition than for fighting or other overtly heroic deeds. Also, follow the links on that page for her articles getting to the bottom of everything about Legolas. They illuminate a lot about the Elves of the Woodland Realm, such as would be represented in most TOR games. As for the elfstone, that information is drawn from a manuscript of Tolkien's included as 'The Elessar' within 'The History of Galadriel and Celeborn' in the Unfinished Tales. Thanks, Os! My copy of UNFINISHED TALES is quite tattered thanks numerous readings of parts more overtly about the Edain and the Dúnedain. It's been over a decade since I read "The History of Galadriel and Celeborn." The citation is MUCH appreciated.
