This is a great idea about a one shot. So, which of the adventures in TfW would you consider best for a long-term game?

This is a tougher question than the one-shot one, but I went with Kinstrife. It leaves the characters with a number of good hooks for future adventures.

Went for leaves and stewed hobbits as it opens the way west towards Bree or inded opens up other adventures based around the inn. I took my lot North troll hunting to help some farmers out.

I don't really think the question can be fairly answered so gave a null vote.

Each of us prefer different adventures for different reasons, & I'm glad to see that some of us agree on Kinstrife & Dark Tidings.

They all open additional possibilities for future games, but I find that this one does especially. It's a well-written adventure.

If you decide to expand your player-heroes ventures within the Vales of Anduin & the western eaves of Mirkwood before they travel eastward for the concluding adventures, you can have them further explore the characters. Does Valter have additional 'cruel, ill-favoured men?' What about his previous crimes impacting someone? If Beorn pardons Oderic, can the lad join the companions? Does Beorn ask the heroes to look into something else for him? (etc.)

IMHO, a Darkness in the Marshes runs a close second for the same reasons. The Dwimmerhorn is just too cool as a dark & brooding stronghold of the Enemy to pass on a single adventure. Ditto for the possibility of other outposts within the Gladden Fields.

At any rate, it's all a subjective thing.

BTW, I hope they publish something similar on down the road for Eriador... wink.gif

I was under the impression that the adventurers in this book were designed to be played together. Is that not the case?

Thanks.

Some of the stories are loosely connected having the same arch-nemesis but in general they are not tied together in one grant-plot. However with a minimal effort you connect all these stories.
The stories also have a loose escalation from the easiest to the more difficult ones.

Having said that i ll add that you made a great choice buying TfW Adventure book. Most of the stories are excellent, very inspiring and very well written. I am playing rpg almost 20 years and this is one of the best adventure pack i have ever read. smile.gif

Gweinel summarizes it well. You can play these individually or combine some of them into a sweeping saga.

About purchasing the book: Agreed! They did a great job with TfW & I highly recommend it. I hope they do the same thing with future releases for Eriador & the South. We wants it my precious, we wants it tongue.gif
