So I recently purchased the starter slip-case for The One Ring and upon my second read through the adventurer's book, I noticed the binding is already coming apart (!). I sent an email to Cubicle 7 yesterday and am now waiting on a reply to resolve the matter.
Question to the group here: am I simply unlucky or have others here been victims of poor binding as well? And if so, how did Cubicle 7 resolve it for you? Still very much a fan of the product overall ; too bad this one major issue is overshadowing all the positives... |

It seems to have been a very common problem. One of my gaming buddies had a copy of the player's book that split down the middle, it's still holding together but I don't know how much longer it will. This was widely discussed on another thread and many copies seem to have similar problems with the bindings. The good news is that cubicle 7 has been very good about issuing replacements.

Many thanks for your comments Cynan. Relieved to hear this is a known issue and not just me; and happy to hear Cubicle 7 is issuing replacements. I exercise extreme caution when using my books, which is probably why I have never had a single binding unravel in my 20+ years of RPG-ing... It is just incredibly frustrating to be presented with such an outstanding product overall, only to see pages come apart within a couple of weeks of purchase! Argh! EDIT: Contacted by Jon Hodgson, Art Director, this morning and a path forward was identified. Was told replacement copies would be sent shortly. Matter resolved. Two-thumbs up to Jon and Cubicle 7 for their outstanding customer service. |

Yup, this is my only complain from Cubicle. The books are rather fragile. Mine too are in "delicate" condition and i am very careful when i am using them. Sometimes this could be too frustrating because you can't be very relaxed when you reading.
One thing that i would wish is the next products to have better binding or, if they are count too many pages to be hardbound. |

As for the binding for the boxed set, I have not put them to the test much. We have used them sparingly on game day.
When I bought TOR, I received a .pdf version of the LMB and the AB, and I have gotten into the habit of copy-paste links to particular rules into my word document as they are needed so I save some wear and tear. The TftW on the other hand, my copy seems to be holding up, though i have only breezed through the pages carefully, and I will be the only one handling it on game day when we get around to playing the scenarios -------------------- You never know how Bright you are until you have met True Darkness
