After looking a the " Homebrew Magic" system thread which I think is very, very, well done, this idea popped into my head....The Voice of Saruman

It seemed like his voice was a persuade skill, Gandalf awakening Theoden inspire , and various examples of awe high common skills from the personality group. IIRC and (I admit I could be wrong magic) is forcing one's will into the world.

Also, the idea of magicians aside from the Istari were established in Middle-Earth.

So, with that how could we make human magician simply around the personality skill. I believe the professor was making a new mythology for NW Europe and the idea of witches and magicians there (NW Europe) have the aspects of the personality groups in TOR.

This precludes spells, but could be described as such e.g. .".the witch's words seemed enchanting to their ears."

The pro of walking this path is that A character can add is favored bonus to one of the 3 skills and his basic bonus the remaining a number of times equal to half their Wisdom per day with out using their hope those skills.

However, human magicians have to forsake martial training and their weapons skills never can be increase above the initial 2,1,1 ratings.

In combat the must fight in a defense stance, BUT can add their favored rating in their favored "magical skill" as their basic parry. e.g if one has chosen awe as their primary skill they can use that.

This is to simulate that the non-combat skills of magicians from folklore but include their less likely-hood of being hit.

I guess there should be something about to much non-living matter interfering with magic for humans. So leather armor and a quarter staff , no problem. Just need someone to give me a few ideas for a staff.

Your thoughts please,

HN

About Eowyn,
Does anyone know what her alias Dernhelm means?

She was kown as dernhelm because of her exclaimation when she realized that the rider's headgear was heavy and obscured her sight.

Actually, I don't like that. I need to reassess.
