I was wondering if we could get an update on the status of the Dice Sets and the print edition of Tales from Wilderland.

The Cubicle 7 release schedule page says both items are shipping May/June.

The Cubicle 7 Store, however, lists the Dice Sets as shipping April/May and the print edition of Tales from Wilderland as shipping May/June.

It is not my intention to be a pain in the neck to the good folks at Cubicle 7. I'm just over eager to have your fine TOR products in my possession. I'm under the influence of the Ring of Power after all.

They are mine. I wants them. wink.gif

Dice are being shipped in the UK. Got mine about 3 weeks ago.

When i was at UK Games Expo (2.5 weeks ago), i was told 4-6 weeks for Tales of Wilderland to ship.

Thanks, Garbar. Someone in the U.S. (in Ohio) recently received their Dice. It looks like he never got an email notification that the dice had shipped. So, I guess, the dice are starting to move in North America? It's hard to tell. I feel in the dark.

I'm looking for an official response.

Hi Beckett,

TOR dice sets are now most definitely in the US, currently en route to pre-order customers. Until we make a final check this weekend that every last order has been despatched we sadly can't give a firmer delivery estimate - it's possible your dice will arrive before that time. As mentioned via email I'll let you know as soon as we know something firm.

Just getting the latest info on Tales. I believe it's on the ship from the printers, but let me confirm that.

Thank you, Jon. I hope I didn't come across in a negative way. I appreciate that you're the Art Director doing double duty as customer service. You had mentioned in an email that Dom had all my info and would contact me. You also said that I should have my dice by now. That set the worry bells ringing. But Dom never contacted me. Hence, I felt in the dark.

I also appreciate that you had all recently just traveled and Dom failed a few fatigue rolls and fell ill upon his return. And so when you followed up with me asking if he had contacted me (which I appreciated very much by the way) I did not press the issue as I mentioned in my reply that he was probably snowed under with catching up on emails and the like.

So please forgive me if my pestering got under anyone's skin at the office. That was not my intention.

It concerns me though, that the dice are en route to pre-order customers in the U.S. and yet no notification came to us. As a future suggestion, such a notification would do wonders to ease the minds of customers.

Yours,
Beckett

Not at all. I'm not doubling as customer service as such - I just reply to best of my ability when someone sends me an enquiry. I'll pass on your suggestions too! smile.gif

A little bit out of context but do you guys think to sell the dice set on Amazon?

No. No Dice Set arrived, and I'm still waiting for Dom to contact me.

Also the Cubicle 7 Store still lists the Dice Sets as shipping April/May:

http://shop.cubicle7store.com/epages/es113...oducts/CB71002a

While the Release Schedule page on the Cubicle 7 site lists the Dice Sets as shipping May/June:

http://www.cubicle7.co.uk/our-games/the-on...-schedule-2012/

Which one is it?

I also got a mail today from Amazon and it said the Tales from Wilderland will be shipped in late August - early September. Is this delay because of Amazon or just Cubicle will ship them at this date?

Looking at the date, I am guessing this is a run on effect of the delays facing C7.

I mentioned this somewhere else in these forums, but I'll repeat myself.

It was fairly standard practice in the bookselling industry, after missing an announced release date, to use a mathematical formula equivalent to:
(New Release Date = (Today) + [90 | 180 | 270 | 360] days).
This formula automatically kicked in when the old release date lapsed without a new release date being announced.

If the publisher provided a new, corrected release date thereafter, that date would be used. But in the interim, the booksellers would just make up a date and use that.

So, if a book was to be release Jan 1, and they missed the release date, the bookstore would usually add 180 days (preferred) to the original release date, so the book would now show July 1 as the new release date. Meanwhile the book might come in 2 months later, frequently without further update to the bookseller's database.

Ghostwolf69,
Please make a Corruption Test for your obvious fixation with regards to Bright and Shiny Objects.

If, at any time, you should start talking to yourself, or your dice, including most especially terms of endearment, your continued existence within the confines of Middle-earth will be terminated with prejudice.

No one likes a miserable wretch, and Middle-earth already has one of those fellows!

Dice are just the same with the ones in core right? No different colour or little, tiny differences?

Yes, as far as I've been reading through the various Dice topics posted, all of the dice sets are the same as those released with the initial boxed (slipcased) set.

Just received word from Cubicle 7 Fulfilment that my dice set should arrive this week sometime. Very happy to hear that.

But also, in the sad news department, I was told that Tales from Wilderland has received a slight setback. Shipping is now scheduled for August.

Damn!

Be well and truly finished with the Tales Of Wilderland by then. My poor printer!

There is one copy in the UK. I saw it at UK Games Expo.

But the nasty hobbitses wouldn't give it to us!!!

Probably got it locked away in a vault by now! Might as well be in Barad-dur!

I wants it! Gives it to ussss!

Approximately 30 days for distribution seems reasonable. Well, if you're not foaming at the mouth getting all anorexic with your 100% fish & phosphorescent moss diet, in order to get your gnarled hands on a copy, drag it back to your dark lair and peruse it at will.

From Dom at C7 in another thread:

QUOTE
... which also kicked us in the arse with Tales from Wilderland. I haven't been able to get to the bottom of this, and I suspect I never will, but due to a communications breakdown between the freight company and printer the books were sitting in the factory warehouse for a month while we thought they were in transit. It's beyond frustrating, as you can imagine I was incandescent! They are on the move now, I'll pass on the ETA when I have it.

The Loremaster's Screen and Lake-town Sourcebook is in approvals, and we have two more books in editing.

TfW sitting there for a month! blink.gif

Its good news that the next three books look close to completion though.

OK funsters, has there been a formal update from C7 yet that I have missed perchance?
With full respect to that wonderful team, and acknowledging their deadline pressures & that sometimes delays are beyond their control (as evident with ToW), I must say that such delays on pre-purchased product would be less bitter for TOR faithful (customers) to swallow if the news was shared straight-up by C7 (website or forum News thread / or both), rather than learning it via word of mouth from helpful fellow TOR fans.
- A brief formal update makes for a much better customer experience -

On a positive note, now that the warehousing glitch has been experienced & flagged (incandescent Dom would be a memorable encounter!) it sounds like we'll see the LM Screen+LakeTown released to schedule, as well as the follow-ups (or is this my wishful thinking?)
If I understand correctly, the follow-ups will be Rivendell and The Darkening of Mirkwood .... I wonder in what order??

Release order -
Laketown/Loremaster's Screen
Darkening of Mirkwood
Rivendell.

There are other, smaller projects that will probably be out before Rivendell, too.

In case you haven't already - check out Mr Hodgson's update on TOR News thread.
Methinks C7's Art Director doubles as their unofficial PR-guru, as he often responds to our pleas for reassurance when we're feeling left out in the Northern Wastes.
Tip of the hat to Jon - I say give that man a pay-rise!.... and a Comms Assistant.

Jon does deserve a raise. I've said that elsewhere, if not to him directly on email. But with all due respect, posting to a forum is not the same thing as directly communicating with your customers (especially pre-order customers who paid for the product months ago) and informing them of the delay/problem.

I certainly hope Dom gave 'em hell for the screw-up.

I'm not gloating or bragging - just reporting I did finally get my dice in the mail yesterday finally!

One day too late, too. I bought a three pack with the intention of giving one to my daughter for her birthday which was Sunday. When I bought them in mid-March I was confident I would have had it in time. Oh well. She was still quite happy when she got her own set yesterday regardless. One set is for my wife and the third set is to give me a second feat die and set for when I LM. Multiple critters are more quickly adjudicated when rolling attacks all at the same time. I also use my colored D12s from my D&D/Pathfinder sets along with matching D6s to speed up that process, too.

That's not gloating at all. Where in the states are you? Glad you got your dice for your daughter.

Left Coast - California - Bay area 40 miles from San Francisco.

My daughter just turned 12; she's been watching, listening, and yearning to play RPGs with us for years, but I just kept feeling that Pathfinder/D&D 3rd was a bit too complicated right now to throw her in with all us very old-school veteran gamers.

But when I found TOR last fall, and fell in love with it, I gave her the invite to join us, and she immediately loved it and surprisingly is one of the most gifted characters there; what I mean by that is - call it hobbit luck, but she seems to always succeed in big-time situations when all others are struggling. So she's quite well-respected at the table.

The problem is attention span which is true with most 11 year olds I think. As the game goes past its 2nd hour she starts fading and fidgeting (understandable) and wants to go do something else for a while. But she always says "Call me when there's a combat!" LOL Dont get me wrong - 75% of the time she'll stay with us the entire 6 hours; but seeing as though we usually play Friday evening after she's been up early and off to school all day I can understand why she's tired and losing interest once 9 oclock rolls around.

Her and my 7 year old son (Morgan) both love the Lord of the Rings movies; I'm reading them The Hobbit right now, and my son love Lord of the Rings Online - plays it all the time. He's been wanting to join our RPG too. I'm a little hesitant on that one at this point - at least not with my friends over - but perhaps a night when it's just the wife, the kids and I, it might work.
