I am reading the The One Ring -Public: The Marsh Bell and I get very confused with the rolls the characters does as they read like this:
Beran: Battle [0 tengwar runes] [2d12 = 14] Should it not be [0 tengwar runes] [2d6 = 14] There is only 1 Feat die and a number of 6 dices, right? please help me haha /K |

And when they encounter the Stone Troll, Lifstan charges the troll. The troll swings a tree trunk at him and gets a Great Success and the only thing that happens is that Liftan takes a little flying and just loses his footing? Is that really all that happens after a hit from a troll... should it not at least be alot of Endurance loss?
I cant see that Lifstan declare that he takes a Knockback which would have cut the Endurance damage in half....any thoughts? |

Where are you reading this? Cause I have no idea what's going on either. It seems a bit off to me

It is a little confusing, but I imagine that the number before the 'd' is the number of d6's the player is rolling for their skill, and the '12' is representing the Feat Die. so (3d12=14) would be 3d6 plus the Feat Die and the result was a 14. Mentioning the Tengwar runes before is just saying if they rolled any during the skill test, to figure out great or extraordinary successes etc.
The adventure seems to be a play by post or play by mail game. Also during the combat it doesn't show the endurance loss for any of the participants, so I think that the LM for the game is using some kind of random number generator for the dice results, and keeping track of the parties endurance. The adventures are good as it lets you see the story play out with detail, due to the other players interacting and seeing what skills they use. The dice results are a bit confusing but you do get a nice feel for how a game would go, plus as an LM it also lets you get an idea of some possible outcomes and decisions that your players could make. -------------------- Morituri Nolumus Mori
