Hello everyone.
Im a very enthusiastic TOR player. For some time now me and my group are playing a TOR campaign, and its been a blast so far. Anyway... I have many friends(Yes, D&D lovers) who dont get really exited about TOR as I am. They wont really try it unsless some material will be available...in their langauge. Me and my friends are from Israel. And for sometime now I wonder if I can create/translate a quickstart for TOR to hebrew. Now, I dont know if this kind of quickstart even exist. And I dont know if I can create one in Hebrew. Clarification: The quickstart will only be used by me and my friends and we dont intend to sell it or make any kind of profit on it. Perhaps I will post some of it in our Israeli forums, but thats it. If anyone can help me on the matter and clarify things I will be greatful. Thanks Omer |

If you create it for personal use and not for profit, you shouldn't upset anyone. This is not a legal opinion though, more a practical one based on my experiences.
RPGs thrive on fan material being made available, provided that the material requires ownership of the RPG in question. The main thing to remember is not to include substantial chunks of the actual text (including translation) i.e. including full PC creation rules would be not OK, but pregenerated PCs should be OK. I also recommend that you include appropriate attribution to any copyrighted material, such as noting that TOR and any logos etc are copyright of C7 and Sophisticated Games under licence etc, and request permission from the copyright holder where possible. -------------------- “There is nothing like looking, if you want to find something. ... Thank you for replying!
It was my intention in the first place to create pre-genrated characters rather then to explain to whole character creation process. I also recommend that you include appropriate attribution to any copyrighted material, such as noting that TOR and any logos etc are copyright of C7 and Sophisticated Games under licence etc, and request permission from the copyright holder where possible.[QUOTE] Of course. I just need a good wording. |

This seems a relatively common one:
1. The One Ring and all distinctive logos and terms are the intellectual property, copyright or trade marks of [C7 etc]. © All rights reserved. This work is not authorized by [C7 etc] and makes no challenge to their intellectual property. [Your name] is not affiliated with [C7 etc]. 2.
