I am somewhat unclear on when a NPC dies and how many wounds is a death for an NPC/Adversary in combat. At times it looks like the rules say that a PH gets 2 wounds and then he is knocked out, if he falls to 0 Endurace while 'knocked out' it means that PH (Player-Hero) is then deceased.

BUT... what I am unclear on is, do the rules change a bit for Advesaries when wounds and combat hits mean for them.

So, I did a self test last night with the Stone-Troll from the intro-adventure at the back of the LMs book.

I used the Pre-Generated PHs against this Stone-Troll and the adventure stated he had already been wounded, but I scored a piercing roll on the Feat dice and it indicated that he had been wounded... so, does that mean he had 2 wounds and he is now dead? Because he took some hits to his 60 Endurance (down to maybe 40 Endurance) and then one of the PHs (pre-gens) rolled the attack roll. So, am I to believe that the Troll goes down (after missing his Protection Test) with one wound.

If so, then does that mean that all adversaries stick to this rule, 2 wounds you're dead, even if they have 45 Endurance (Hit Points basically).

But, somewhere I think I read that adversaries go down to being slain by 1 wound... that being a smiple diffference between NPC/Adversaries (monsters) and Player-Heroes?

Oh, one more clarification, when an NPC/Adversary need to make a protection test, they take their armor like 3d, and then take 3 success dice and 1 FEAT dice to see if they make roll that is larger then the Ingury number of the PHs weapon.

Ok, here's how it goes.

For Player Characters

Player characters are killed when either:

1. They are wounded and are reduced to 0 endurance, and then their wounds are not treated.

2. They are wounded and take a single hit that both wounds them a second time and reduces them to 0 endurance.

For Non-Player Characters

NPCs die when they are reduced to 0 endurance or take one wound.

Trolls have a special trait (it's called "gigantic" or something) that allows them to survive until they take two wounds or a wound and 0 endurance.

Hope that clears stuff up.

Doc's right, but I'm re-writing things for a slight adjustment in clarity. Player characters are killed when either:

They are wounded once, and:
  • are reduced to 0 Endurance, and their wounds are not treated immediately.
    or
  • are struck by another single attack which both wounds them a second time and reduces them to 0 Endurance (or less).

PS: The troll's ability is called "Great Size" and makes them and other creatures with this ability a particularly formidable opponent. Cannot recall if Francesco altered this ability; I know he altered one of the monster abilities.

I have yet to read the books thoroughly.
