I have a few question on dying heroes.

First, is someone with a treated wound that gets reduced to 0 endurance still dying?

Second, if I am reading the rules correct then you only have one chance to save a dying hero since a dying hero whose wound isn't successfully treated dies in 12 hours and if you fail a healing roll to treat the injury then you can't try again for 1 day. Is this correct?

I am not sure about whether you must wait a day to attempt a reroll to save a dying comrade. But a character whose wound has been successfully treated is no longer dying. He remains wounded until his endurance has completely healed but is no longer in danger of dying.

I will have to reread the rules about failing the treastment roll later.

Based on my reading of the text this appears to be correct:

QUOTE (AB 145)
The Loremaster should not allow a failed Healing roll to be repeated until at least a day has passed, as the failure of the treatment won’t be immediately apparent.

and

QUOTE (AB 145)
Dying characters must have their Wound successfully treated with a Healing roll within approximately 12 hours, or they will die. As soon as their wound is treated successfully, they are not considered to be dying any more.

So, Arda is a harsh mistress...people die, such is life and hardship.

True, but if the healer has a couple of ranks of Healing and a Hope point to invoke the attribute, the odds are in favour of the dying individual recovering.

Let's just hope it isn't the healer that is unconscious and dying smile.gif

A party with only one healer is doomed! Even if they buy just one rank (1 XP), it gives them a chance!

But Athelas is only as powerful as the person using it!

To the herbalist it smells nice, but it took the (future) King of Gondor to heal Eowyn!
