Seeing as my players are about to go to battle with them, I thought I'd stat some Easterlings out. Here's what I have so far: Easterlings Weapons
Warriors Attribute level: 3 Endurance: 10 Hate: 2 Parry: 3 + 2 (shield) Armour: 2d6 (hardened leather) Skills Personality: 2 Movement: 3 Perception: 2 Survival: 3 Custom: 2 Vocation: 1 Weapon Skills Recurve Bow: 2 Lance: 2 Spear: 2 Special Abilities Hatred (Dunedain), Saddle-born (all Movement, Survival and Weapon skills favoured while mounted) War Chief Attribute level: 5 Endurance: 18 Hate: 5 Parry: 5 + 2 (shield) Armour: 4d6 (lamellar) Skills Personality: 3 Movement: 3 Perception: 2 Survival: 3 Custom: 2 Vocation: 1 Weapon Skills Recurve Bow: 2 Lance: 2 Spear: 3 Special Abilities Commanding Voice, Hatred (Dunedain), Saddle-born (all Movement, Survival and Weapon skills favoured while mounted) ----- What do you think? Too weak? I tried to pitch them about the same level as orcs. vs |

Hey that's pretty good. I think they are a pretty good toughness for your general sampling of Easterlings. Perhaps though, only weapons skills as favored when mounted? All is a bit powerful...though, how many are they really going to use from horseback aside from maybe Travel, Explore, Hunting...so maybe only a select few?
Just my two cents. But good job. I'm going to use these. -------------------- "O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled, as to console; to be understood, as to understand; to be loved, as to love". -St. Francis of Assisi

Ok, so I have finally got permission to post from the administrators. The one thing that I was surprised was missing from the TOR bestiary in the Loremaster book was Easterlings. Considering the historical effect that various Easterlings tribes have had on Rhovanion and Wilderland, I would have thought they would have been definites.
So, void state, these are very welcome. I would probably agree that all skills being favoured whilst mounted needs re jigged though. |

I really like these. However, as been mentioned, Saddle-Born seems a little too OP, maybe try to mirror the Wood Elves cultural benefit? While in the saddle all of their Common Skills are favored? Its a neat idea, something that the Rohirrim could also use (until they officially appear next year, or god forbid, in 2013... sigh).
edit: One other thing I would add. Give the War Chief 1 more Hate and Commanding Voice, brings him almost on par with an Orc Chieftain. btw, May I have your permission to add this to my GM Screen? Its not official, of course, and I will annotate it as such, but it would be a cool addition -------------------- |

I've changed Saddle-born to match the great suggestions you've all made. And added commanding voice; another great idea.
And you're free to do anything you like with these, Kaltharion. |

Voidstate,
How did your battle with the Easterlings go? Do you have plans on adding more material on here concerning other foes? This is a welcome addition to our games. |

Just wondering about why you went for both a lance and a spear. Apart from the ability to throw spears, don't they fulfil the same purpose?
Does the spear skill represent their ability to fight with the lance on foot and if used on foot, should the spear stats be used in place of the lance stats? What about the orc's 'bent sword'? I always envisage that Easterlings would also be armed with curved sabres as well and I think that the bent sword represents this well enough. Just asking because I intend to use these fellows in my upcoming adventure involving an ambassadorial mission to the Dalish exile settlement of Farhold at the confluence of the Celduin and the Carnen. |
