Any updates on these three supplements? It appears to me that Heart of the Wild and The Darkening of Mirkwood are farther along than the tentatively titled Rivendell supplement so that Autumn target is probably more like Winter 2013. Would that be correct?

The Darkening of Mirkwood -- a campaign sourcebook for The One Ring: The Shadow falls once more on Mirkwood, shattering the short-lived optimism of the forest’s inhabitants and neighbours, and endangering all those within reach of Dol Guldur’s clawed grasp - Winter 2012

Heart of the Wild -- a region sourcebook for The One Ring: Covering Mirkwood and the Vales of Anduin, The Heart of the Wild gives your adventurers a vast expanse to explore, packed with enchanting s, terrifying creatures and stories to tell. From the dark depths of the forest to the heights of the Carrock, from the Hill of Sorcery to the Vales of Gundabad, The Heart of the Wild presents enough adventure to occupy your characters for years - Winter 2012

Rivendell (title TBC) -- core supplement introducing 'unique' cultures: Rangers of the North and Rivendell Elves. Includes material on The Last Homely House, the surrounding areas, magical artefacts, and more - Autumn

I want to know if The Darkening of Mirkwood or Heart of the Wild is going to be a hardcover?

I want to know if The Darkening of Mirkwood or Heart of the Wild is going to be a hardcover?

I would strongly bet on none of them being so.

Does it worry anyone else that the only updates we've gotten since the removal of PDFs has been for products that were already in the pipeline for release?

Not really.

There's no need to focus on a future product while the current products are not released yet.
The GM screen has just been published.
The Darkening of Mirkwood and Heart of the Wild are still to be published.
Rivendell has still to be "spoiled" (I mean, we have little informations on the content or on the cover).
That's enough, Cubicle 7 doesn't need to announce another product, there's enough to talk.

I'll be worried if we have no news when Heart of the Wild will be published.

I have to agree with Dalriada.

Because we're online and hear things first-hand, instantly, we're kind of getting ahead of ourselves. Tales from Wilderland was officially released at Gen Con, mid-August. The LM Screen & Laketown Sourcebook were released just over a week ago.

At the very least let them enjoy a few minutes break before pushing them back to the grindstone.

Also, C7 has gotten a "once bitten" thing going on due to snafus that were outside of their power. So they withhold tentative info and outright rumors. Making sure to respond by providing us real info that has been confirmed, not vaporware.

Maybe that's why I have a different perspective. In my eyes, both Tales of Wilderland and the Laketown Supplement were released in mid August...because that's when I picked them up at GenCon. Fast forward two+ months, and the only specific dates for upcoming products are on Amazon.com (which has to have a date in order to make the product available for pre-order). In addition, the Rivendell product is not available for preorder, but has an earlier timeframe listed on the C7 website (Autumn instead of Winter). It's a confusing situation for the customer.

It's not that confusing really. They just released the Tales in Summer and the Lake-Town Sourcebook & Screen very recently. They are planning to release two more books before 2013 and another one in Spring of 2013. I think it's a very good schedule if there won't be any delays.

What!? Where in their work contract does it state they get breaks? Where's my whip? wink.gif

C7 has done an outstanding job thus far. Last year they had some difficult hurdles thrown in their way, but they were always up front with us, the consumer, about the situation and how it effected release dates. "Tales" came out in the summer and the Screen a few weeks ago they are now running a pace with the official release schedule. I am certain that in the next couple of months we will have the Rivendell sourebook in our hands and Nolder Elves and Rangers of the North in our games. smile.gif

The other thing to keep in mind, particularly with TOR (as opposed to any other licensed product that C7 sells) is that they have to be original and innovative - while staying in complete legal compliance with at least one and possibly two different legal entities.

I'm not sure exactly how MeE & the Tolkien Estate handle the review of game material. It would be very easy for one or the other to slip and accidentally approve something that is outside the scope of their licensed material. So I could easily see that lawyers for both parties are required to review any game material and comment on any potential issues.

Which is probably the case with the PDFs. One party thought it would be alright, whereas the other obviously did not like the idea.

I was thinking more along the lines of... Beren & Luthien. They're mentioned in LotR, but I believe only as a poem which takes "poetic license" with the story as it appears in the Silmarillion. Now imagine that MeE somehow goofs and lets SG/C7 publish a re-enactment adventure scenario, completely compliant in all respects to the Silmarillion story. Now what happens? Particularly if the problem isn't recognized until after it is released for sale?
