Has anyone been able to copy and paste or download (et al) the Gandalf and Eye of Sauron icons usable in Microsoft Word? I'm encountering some difficulties while writing stories & appreciate the help. Thank you!

I made some scans of each ... Gandalf rune, Eye of Sauron, and the Tengwar rune that I use in my documents. I insert as pictures and adjust the size down. If that works for, you, send me a private message and I'll e-mail the to you. Please note, I won't be able to send them as they are on my laptop (which is at my store) and I'm on my desktop (at home) right now. I'd be happy to send them tomorrow afternoon Eastern Time (minus 5 hours to Greenwich Time), though.

Let me check with the powers that be, and if it is ok I will make the original font available. Bear with me as we have a lot on just now.

It would be wonderful if some sort of 'fan kit' including authorized fonts, backgrounds, banners, icons etc could be publicly released for fan-made websites and material. If for legislative reasons the official elements of published materials cannot be released for public use, then an 'official' alternative version would be greatly appreciated. Glorfindel |

This is a wonderful response - thank you everyone!
Throrsgold: I'll send you a message & I appreciate your help. Jon: Thank you for your generous offer. I love the design of the runes & hope to use them for my write-ups of villains & such . BTW, Glorfindel raises a great point about the fonts - some of these are very cool & add a wonderful touch to the game. These are one of the many ways to add the flavor that makes TOR stand-out from the previous iterations of converting Middle-earth to RPGs. At any rate, if you encounter legal or similar considerations we fans certainly understand, though it will be kinda cool to use them . |

It would be helpful to have such a font, and fan useable graphics.

With thanks to the powers that be, you will find the dice runes you need in this font:
http://db.tt/iCkrye5q It's called "aaatord" and the special glyphs are on uppercase A, uppercase B, and uppercase C. It also has 1 to 0, if required. Permission is given to use this in your personal projects. Enjoy. -------------------- Jon Hodgson

Jon,
Thank you for helping us - this is wonderful news! BTW, I enjoy your work very much while reading the books. Your beautiful images convey the flavor of Middle-earth & help me to envision Tolkien's creation during play & before - which is equally important for LMs while planning all types of deadly perils for our unsuspecting player-heroes . |

No problem! I shall pass on the thanks to the powers that be!
And thanks for the kind words about the artwork. It's been a joy to illustrate Francesco's fantastic game, and see my work alongside the wonderful stuff by John Howe and Tomasz Jędruszek. It seems funny now looking back on just how very very nervous I was before the books were released: It's rare for a commercial illustrator to make work for a project they actually love. And that brings the huge risk of everyone hating what you did, and thus being completely destroyed. Luck was with us! -------------------- Jon Hodgson
