Hi all. Still absorbing the rules and have just read through Grimoire of Magic, which looks great! Question: When the game calls for a Group Roll test vs. a TN (Personality for example) how many success dice do you roll with the feat die? If 1 of the 3 diamonds is filled in, does that mean 1 success die and 1 feat die etc.? Just need some clarification there. Sorry if this is an obvious question, still learning =) I know if you have Search 2 you roll 2 dice and the feat die. Do the same mechanics hold for a Personality group roll. I also know those diamonds can be filled if, in the opinion of the LM, someone has done something quite extraordinary etc.
Thanks all |

You always roll the Feat die, even if unskilled. The number of d6s (success dice) rolled depends on the number of skill levels you have - denoted by the diamonds. So, even an unskilled character has a chance for a normal success, though they generally will need to roll the G-rune.
The small diamonds on the right hand side (the group section) are for awarding advancement points to the players during the fellowship phase. They aren't for making rolls. If a player rolls an extraordinary success, applies a trait, etc. then they tick one of those. The personality group applies to the three skills on that row - e.g. Personality applying to Awe (Body), Inspire (Heart) and Persuade (Wisdom). So, the character can gain up to 3 advancement points per group. A "Personality test" would mean applying any of the three personality group skills to the situation. For example, faced with an angry mob the character could face them down (Awe), channel their anger with a rousing speech (Inspire) or Persuade them to go home peacefully. -------------------- Current EU RPG Group Games: European FG2 RPG Friday (8pm to 11pm UK time; Ultimate License) - Classic Traveller Sunday (8pm to 11pm UK time; Ultimate License) - The One Ring: Adventures over the Edge of the Wild Using Ultimate FGII and can accept unlicensed player connections on some of the games. ----------------- LOTRO - Brandywine Server Halbras - Hobbit Hunter / Jonab - Bree-folk Captain / Ardri - Dwarf Guardian / Halaberiel - Elf Hunter |

Great! Thank you Valarian! So for the group roll, you pick the common skill that is most appropriate for the situation, so if its Personality you choose from Awe, Inspire or Persuade, correct?

I'd say that it is up to the player to decide his character's action if you, as GM, ask for a personality roll. There would be different potential outcomes depending on what skill is used, and some skills may not be well received or the TN higher. In some situations, only one of the three skills in a group would be applicable - so you should ask for a specific test instead of a generic group one.
To use the above example, if the Awe rolled failed then the anger of the mob would be increased and the character would be embroiled in a riot. The Inspire test fails and the character finds himself being categorised as a rabble rouser (maybe even arrested if an Eye is rolled). If the Persuade roll fails, the character is pelted with eggs and rotten fruit.
