First off I am new to the forum. I was wondering if anyone has started a list on herbs in TOR. In the books and in the original MERP herbs were a big part of Middle Earth. Has anyone made a list of herbs to use in TOR? I have been trying to wade through all the old posts and have yet to find anything.
Thanks Rick |

I got real excited when I saw the herbs and did a custom thingamajig on the Marsh Herbs rules in the Laketown Supplement. Here it is...

oh, that is very cool!
I did see in an old players guide for MERP a huge list of herbs from middle earth, with short descriptions. Unfortunately, though the book was freely offered to me, I refused it because after skimming through most of it and studying it a little, I realized that I didn't like the core mechanics of the game. Oh well. Could've should've would've.... |

MERP and TOR use completely different game mechanisms - specifically different damage systems (amount and placement of damaged body part). Other than providing useful source material (names, effects, degree of danger, etc) its not too likely that they could be used "as is" within TOR.
Of course, most of the information from MERP regarding herbs and metals/minerals is not a part of Tolkien's legendarium. Not a big deal if you want to add it, just that it can cause confusion as people look for a citation within Tolkien's books. The user "Format" created a simple herb listing taken from MERP which has been posted already ... I think I found it: Flora, Fauna And Other Monsters There is a link in his signature. PS: OK, the idiocy with the word LO CAT ION is really getting annoying. -------------------- Garn!
I have yet to read the books thoroughly. |
