When running TOR as a one off, the Hope economy doesn't get highlighted as it is built for long term play. I have been using this hack to allow a better representation of what Hope is like in the long term, when running a one off game and highlighting the mechanic.
1. Each PC gets Hope = Heart. Hobbits and Woodsmen use Favoured Heart. 2. When spending Hope from the Fellowship Pool, you need to have majority approve as normal and your Hope score reduces by 1. 3. If you don't have majority approval, then you can still take the Hope, but those that voted against you now vote whether to give you a Shadow point. 3. You can spend Hope without going to the Fellowship Pool, but doing so reduces your Hope by 1 and increase your Shadow by 1 each time. -------------------- “There is nothing like looking, if you want to find something. ... You certainly usually find something if you look, but it is not always quite the something you were after."
