My books just landed on my desk at work. Trying very hard to do some actual work instead of poring over the books. I can confirm that they are truly things of beauty, however.

Greetings

Good to hear. Hopefully my hard copy will appear in the reasonably near future. This would be good as my son has borrowed the pdf ...

Wait where are you, and how did you order, cause those things matter to those of still waiting, will your order at Cubicle 7 change from Viewed to shipped or does nothing happen at all? Just wondering?

Mine arrived, too...standard C7 pre-order. Really beautiful books.

Mr Nice Postman brought it today. Have been putting off reading the pdf until I had the hard copy in my hands. It is a work of beauty and drop dead gorgeous.

I'm in the UK and I preordered before Gencon.

Greetings

My copy was waiting for me when I arrived home from work today. It looks really good.

I'm in the UK and ordered it around the time of Gencon I believe. Note that my C7 account shows it as 'Viewed' so did not update for despatch (mind you neither did my order for Legends of Anglerre last year).

Regards

Am I safe in assuming that those of us on the left side of the Pond are still in for some wait time? I figured the European market would get them sooner, but I would be chuffed if we in the US were to get our deliveries fairly soon. I seem to remember there being some statement about the ship being delayed from Asia that the books were coming on, but I can't swear to that.

I pre-ordered mine during GenCon (it was hearing all about it on the various forums directly from the people there that persuaded me...like I needed much of an excuse)...so I'm guessing they are sending out all the pre-orders now.

Just received an email from Angus, the US pre-orders through C7 (didn't reference other pre-order methods so can't speak to that) shipped Thursday and Friday past. If your wondering like me how long it my take to land on your doorstep, the US shipments originate in Norcross, Geoergia.

Awesome! Thanks for the heads up. I might actually have my physical books by the game I am running in about a week and half!

My copy arrived this morning (I'm in northern Ireland). Have to say that its one of the nicest looking rpg's I've ever seen. Aces and Eights is the only other one I can think if that looked as nice.

Aces and Eights looks nice, but the system seemed a total mess to me. I gave up on it.

TOR on the other hand is very playable!

Oh I agree! Aces and Eights best bit - the shooting mechanic was fun in theory but because they only included frontal silhouettes, in practice even that was a bit crap! A great looking book though

They made some silhouettes available as a Pdf to add variety, but can't recall if they were all front facing or not.

Shot clock was a nice idea though, but gunfights took forever!

I downloaded a free PDF that adapted the Hollow Earth Expeditions rules to a wild west setting and used that for a while.

Aces & Eights is still a beautiful book though. But beauty is only skin deep! And no matter how the pretty the book (or woman), if the content does not hold your interest, it's a doomed relationship! wink.gif

It seems like Kenzer abandoned A&8s pretty quickly, or at least had 'more interesting' stuff to release? The much vaunted GM screen didn't materialise, and the adventures they did publish weren't really connected to the campaign presented in the main rulebook, in fact some of them would have been pretty hard to introduce into it. Lots of cool ideas and an initial enthusiam from the creators which soon petered out. I haven't even started the campaign yet because I was waiting for the screen and possible town sourcebook. The townbook they did publish doesn't even appear on the campaign map. Ok, it's easy enough to drop in there, but it just goes to show it was all very haphazard and that there was no planning involved.

About the sideways silhuettes, there are some in the Shootist's Guide, plus some from above and below, and some on horseback etc. Should be easy enough to do your own as well? Thi spack also introduces 'the big game shot clock' which is a smaller version of the regular one. To fit a rider and his/her horse in a a4 silhuette, you need to scale it down and therefore you need to have a smaller shot clock as well. The mind boggles how they didn't figure this out from the beginning, the original silhuettes are far too big to begin with. If they had thought it through and had done a smaller one form the go, you wouldn't have two shot clocks and two sets of silhuettes.

Needless to say I am pretty mad at Kenzer about all this, but to bring this back to topic, my account on C7 shop still shows my TOR order status as 'viewed', so no joy for me... sad.gif

Mine arrived too (Budapest, Hungary) - it was a "normal", non-priority pre-order. And althought I read the pdf versions, I was still amazed by the quality of the paper version. Simply beautiful.

That's encouraging to hear.

Grumble grumble, Swedish postal system. Then again I have a report to write tomorrow so it's probably a good thing it hasn't arrived :-)

You're probably right about the status, I got older orders that still read as 'viewed'... but I received them ages ago. blink.gif

I'm waiting for the books to turn up here in Sweden too. I'm about to lose my mind waiting. Had the books actually been the One Ring I most certainly would have succumbed to its allure. I have no patience and no discipline right now.

And I feel like Bilbo after his party. As I was leaving for uni just after lunch today I checked the post box and found a package from Cubicle 7. I held it a for few seconds, then went back indoors and placed it, unopened, on the kitchen table before catching the bus. I fancy I'll find a (game about) a golden ring inside :-)

Wow, that's like a critical success on some sort of willpower roll! Not only did you leave it at home, you didn't even open it!
