I just wanted to take a moment and introduce myself on this forum before I posted a few thousand questions about The One Ring, running the game, and Middle Earth source material. I thought it might be polite since I might make a pest of myself asking so many questions.
I am a long time table top RPG player. Started in 1980. I have tried a multitude of RPGs over the years in all kinds of genres. I am also a fan of the Professor and his novels. I have read the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings a couple times but have not explored outside of those books. I bought the Decipher Lord of the Rings RPG core book but have not tried to tackle I.C.E's MERP (the rule set was too intimidating). Just before Christmas a close friend and fellow gamer told me about The One Ring RPG. He had bought the box set on a whim and then contacted Cubicle 7 to get a pdf of the rule set. He and I share a common game outlook so I thought I would treat myself for Christmas to the purchase of The One Ring. I spent a good portion of the Christmas weekend reading the rule books. I then watched the Hobbit trailer a few dozen times and ended the holiday watching all 3 of the Peter Jackson Lord of the Rings movies (extended versions). It was a Middle Earth yule tide! Within The One Ring I found a juicy selection of rules and setting material that contains the very essence of Tolkien! Love the idea that rules encourage the players to work together! The creative concept of the Fellowship Focus is brilliant! I can imagine myself as a Loremaster running adventures set on the edges of Rhun and deep in the Misty Mountains. I have been watching these forums for a few weeks and have found the posters to be creative and eloquent. The topics are interesting and helpful. I only hope I can continue the tradition. Thank you in advance. |

Welcome!
Yeah I did the middle earth yule time thing as well. The rules are a very pleasant surprise and I am learning them as well. V -------------------- "The soldier knows little of philosophers but in him and in his deeds life expresses itself more profoundly than any book can"

Greetings Jib,
I also have been reading these forums for a few weeks, unable to post myself until recently, yet I also have come to realize and have been humbled by the great amount of wisdom, creativity, and respect the posters have here. A forum worthy of it's posters! It was a pleasure to meet you and hope to see you about the forums. -------------------- "Certainty of death, *small* chance of success...
