Our first TOR session is this coming Sunday, Mar.10th. One of my players has chosen that Laketown Man template that can be found on Azrapes's character generator, which I have come to discover is detailed in the Laketown/LM Screen expansion.. which, as luck would have it, is currently out of stock. ugghh
I will order this soon as possible but for the first session I will not have it. Is there anything specific I need to know about Laketown? I have MERP material but I want to stay within the scope of TOR's source materials. I'm thinking of bypassing Laketown altogether until I get the source material. -------------------- You never know how Bright you are until you have met True Darkness

what would you like to know? Personally I think the Men of the Lake Culture is a bit lackluster compared to the other ones, although they have 2 things which in my opinion strike out as very good:
1. Their cultural "Perk" is, I believe called "Tenacious". Whenever they take a wound or would otherwise roll in such a way to leave them harmed (gaining shadow points I believe counts), they gain 1 XP. I think that's pretty cool. 2. They also have a great virtue called, I believe, Shield Fighter. Any time they make an attack and hit, they roll the feat die. If they get an 8+, they hit with their shiled, doing body damage, or body + shield's encumbrance ( I can't remember which). |

I think I need to know some important features of Laketown itself. I need a smithy for a dwarf character to have a working relationship with, an Inn or tavern, who is in charge, the main official "government" building and info.
A library or place where a chronicler /story writer might find writing materials(the laketown man will be a chronicler in my game) Important places like a market, or important features like statues and memorable places. So that when I get the source material, the stuff I have presented already will jive -------------------- You never know how Bright you are until you have met True Darkness

Ah, ok. So you really didn't need character info. There is a beautiful hand drawn map/image of the town in a 3d/isometric view. It's quite lovely. I know all the major features you are looking for are there, but I don't know their names. Someone with the sourcebook nearby will need to help out :-(

I just fired off an email to Angus Abranson to see if there were a PDF version of Laketown available to see me through until my order can be delivered.

Angus departed the company almost a year before Lake-town was published. The Lake-town Sourcebook and LM's Screen is expected back into our US warehouse any day now. There was an unforeseen delay at US customs which held things up a little, but it should happily be back in stock very soon. The Laketown unboxing video, from about 3 mins 50 seconds will probably help in the meantime. http://youtu.be/kcp2eVZwYmY?t=3m50s -------------------- Jon Hodgson

FYI Angus no longer works for Cubicle 7 but he informed me PDF's of One Ring material are no longer available due to licensing issues.
Sooooo looks like I'll have to wing it -------------------- You never know how Bright you are until you have met True Darkness

Here is my dilemma, the Material I have concerns mostly MERP Old Laketown.
I am guessing that the TOR material encompasses new Laketown. The awesome painting shows many buildings, would I be safe just creating a couple important spots for my early adventures to revolve around? Would it be a license infraction to drop a name or two of important NPC's that will be known by a denizen of Laketown? -------------------- You never know how Bright you are until you have met True Darkness

It usually takes a couple of weeks between arriving at the US warehouse and the UK warehouse. -------------------- Jon Hodgson

My usually reliable German retailers have been having issues getting this in. I hope this printing finally makes it across.
