I have been doing some research to increase my Loremaster skills and help with my writing of adventures and my Loremaster's Guide: Narrating Tolkien-style.
I came across these two sites that deal with Tolkien's languages. They are both fantastic and include courses to learn them. Some of you may already be aware of these sites, but for those who aren't, may you find them as fascinating as I have found them. Those two sites really are great hubs for Tolkienian linguistics! I also thought I would suggest a few easy tools and reference sites for those who may want to quickly create a (mostly) authentic character name.
Merin Essi ar Quenteli! has some helpful links to name lists for many Middle-earth cultures and languages. Sindarin Name Frame is a quick and dirty tool for generating names from common Sindarin morphemes. Hiswelókë’s Sindarin dictionary is just what it sounds like--an alphabetical English-Sindarin word list with definitions. I hope they are of use! -------------------- My Downloadable TOR Documents:
Magic for The One Ring -------------------- "Do you not see now wherefore your coming is to us as the footsteps of Doom? For if you fail, we are laid bare to the Enemy. Yet if you succeed, then our power is diminished, and Lothlorien will fade, and the tides of time will sweep it away. We must depart into the West, or dwindle to a rustic folk of dell and cave, slowly to forget and to be forgotten." --Galadriel, "The Mirror of Galadriel," The Fellowship of the Ring by J.R.R.
