My apologies if there is already a thread about this.
How is magic, or lack there of, handled in the game? I know that Magic and Magic using characters arent a big part of Middle Earth. If any of you are familiar with Lord OF The Rings Online, they handled this situation well with the Loremaster and Minstrel classes. How does The One Ring address this? A couple of my players were wondering if they can play any sort of magic using character. Thanks. |

There are a number of threads on this, and a few of us including myself have provided some optional rules- you can access mine in my sig below, and the list doc in my sig below will indicate who has also done some rules. Mine is still a work in progress! You can search the forum by accessing Trotters resource in the Resources

It''s mostly treated as a plot device by the GM.Some of the cultures might provide a character with a bit of minor magic, but there are no no PC "spellcasters" to speak of. |

No spellcaster for my PC. The Loremaster and the Ministrel were never really canon for me (although I love LOTRO and my main character was a human minstrel). If a PC want a magical power, he can. Through the Virtues (like the dwarven virtue giving a 'spell' to open/lock doors. Or the astral projection of the beornid). But no spellcasting class, where the main focus of the PC would be magic. |
