Thanks for posting this map. Went to Amazon.com and found a copy of Mines of Moria Collectors Edition for $23.00 with map and music CD.

What I think Garn is saying is the if the map is keyed to the MMORPG, it is different from what a PC Hero would see in a game of TOR.
The MMO takes place shortly after the Fellowship has passed that way. You play the game as an extra helping the fellowship out along the way but still always slightly behind their progress. So the Balrog and Gandalf have already had their disagreement, and the Stairs of Khazad-Dum have already been collapsed in the MMO - so I believe that map attests to that......??? If it was meant as an aide to players of that game it would make sense to be true to the design of that MMO. FWIW _ Exploring Moria in LOTRO is worth the price of admission for that game! It is by far some of the most amazing visuals I have ever seen in a game. And is definitely my favorite aspect of that game. The Golden Wood of Lorien is a close second as far as amazing visually. -------------------- Robert

Also - somewhere in all my OLD gaming stuff that I have stashed away over the years is a very old multi map level lay-out of moria that went to some version of Middle-Earth roleplaying. I have it all in a large zip lock bag. I didn't play RPGs in Middle-Earth back then so I mostly just used it as fodder for dungeon crawls for D&D, and just had it because I was already a Tolkien fan in my teens. I do remember it was massive!
Then I bought more when Decipher Script had their game about 10 years ago - a boxed set. In fact I have two boxed sets from that era. I never cared for DS version of Middle-earth so we didn't play it after trying it out a couple times - and we went back to D&D 3rd edition. I had totally forgotten about these until this thread. I'll have to go dig these out. TOR is the first Middle-earth RPG that I truly love playing more than D&D (now Pathfinder) - so I may yet find some use for those old materials. -------------------- Robert

I love Moria and have played evry version of RPG for Middle Earth there. I have been planning a game based around Balins Quest for years and the TOR setting seems perfect for it.

Okay thanks for clarifying. I have journeyed in Moria in LOTRO, but I do not have the map - i believe it was for those who purchased the expansion when it was first released. I bought it much later as an add-on to my Free-to-play account when it went on 50% off it usual price. Those with the monthly subscription (as I do now) still have to buy Moria as an add-on to have access to it. And even then only after you character hits about 50th level and has done a great deal of intro quests to gain access (including fighting and driving off the Watcher in the Water). The coolest thing in Moria in that game - is just the artwork of the dwarven craftsmanship to marvel at. I get it when Sam says, "That's an eye-opener; make no mistake!" -------------------- Robert

Here is a sort of isometric map of Moria I found a couple years ago, I don't remember where it came from though.

Do you have that in a better resolution at all? It looks nice but at the moment not amazingly useful due to its size. -------------------- 1) The Fellowship of the Free - a TOR Actual Play thread: http://cubicle7.clicdev.com/f/index.php?tr...&showtopic=3424

Sorry Rich H that's the only one I had. I was going to use it as a reference if ever an adventure brought us there. I agree about the resolution.
For lo-rez maps like that if I want to use them I bring them into Photoshop and re-size it and basically repaint them for use with RPGtools' maptool program, but my group never went to Khazad-Dum. -------------------- You never know how Bright you are until you have met True Darkness
