Many months ago I wrote some rules for creating mass combats. Since then, I have re-thought the whole subject and decided to approach it from a very different angle. I have an idea for a three part document, but in order for me to complete it, I am looking for a co-author. Also, there is no guarantee that every part of the document will be approved for posting or download, as much of the material in part one (which I have nearly completed) I will need permission to share.
To get an idea of the purpose of the document, which for now I am calling The Loremaster's Guide to Mythic Battles, this is what I wrote on the credits page as an explanation: "I wrote this guide primarily as a help for Loremasters wishing to compose their own large battles in Middle-earth. Although the main rulebooks provide the foundational mechanics for all combats, it is the supplemental adventures Words of the Wise and those found in Tales from Wilderland that really illustrate the wonderful possibilities of how to use those mechanics in innovative ways. This is the second incarnation of the project, the first being a document I produced called Mass Combat Rules, which I began prior to the aforementioned works. After the release of Tales from Wilderland, I went back to the drawing board and came up with this guide. I hope that it assists you greatly when preparing for your games. Thank you so much to Francesco Nepitello and Dominic McDowall-Thomas for developing such a wonderful roleplaying game! You have brought delight and inspiration to me." I'd be interested. I'm fond of Decipher's battle system introduced in their Helm's Deep book and the various incarnations of the battle system used in Pendragon. Maintaining a blend of tactical crunch and narrative flavor is important, but any rules should be modular enough that the Loremaster can run battles effectively regardless of which side his or her style is weighted toward.

@JRB: This project also interests me should you need another resource. I've had my hand in a few house game and rule systems. On the Tolkien side, I've spent some time with the primary and secondary sources so that I might be able to offer something of small value on that side as well.
Of course, I want to respect UndeadTrout's post so no worries if you have all you need lined up! Regards, E |

There are stages to any writing project, Eluadin, one of them being research. There's always room for more sources.

Thanks guys for your interest and responses. I will PM you soon and let you know exactly what I'm looking for in a co-author. I'm open to having more than one other person to work with, but probably not more than two because of anticipated communication limitations. If there is anyone else who is interested, please just PM me and we'll talk instead of posting here. I really am looking for people that can demonstrate writing/editing ability, want to work as a team, and have the time to commit.
If anyone wants to comment on what I have presented in the preview, please do so. I could use any feedback offered to me. Ask any questions as well. A big part of the reason I'm writing this particular guide is to assist Loremasters when creating battles by using the game mechanics in innovative ways. I love the way the authors have presented battles in the published adventures. They really make the game system come alive. Received and read, JRB. Formulating a reply, but the holiday here may delay it into the weekend.
