Hey Guys,
We are getting ready to throw dice down on this game and get started. I'm the LM and my players are for the mostpart familiar with the setting, but definitely not the rules. The rules seem simple enough after playing many RPG's over the years. However, due to the infrequency of gaming we do, and costs of the core game and no PDF versions available, we DESPARATELY need Cheat Sheats for both Character Design and basic actions. I have the LM screen, but that really only helps me and only gives modifiers. Is there cheats sheets out there like say as an example, Gitzmans' got Warhamer FRPG 3rd Edition?? Any help would be appreciated. The books are too delicate to pass around or make copies of the pred-designed characters. I'd hate to have to pour over the book too much. thanks!! |

A while back I posted a random character generator series of tables that will help you make an interesting random PC in minutes. The link is in my signature.

My baby boy and my new bassoon reed and cane business have kept this on the outskirts of my mind, but I'll make a point of making a PDF of the Random Character Generator. It would definitely be more useful as a PDF, and I apologize for not getting to it sooner. I do think it's fun and that it could be handy. At any point you can certainly make your own decisions, but it will show you characters you might never have considered.
My new years' resolution? Finally play this beautiful game! If my reed business takes off I can finally leave the Quick Post and block out some Saturday online play time, even if it means the middle of the night! Happy new year! It seems like there almost needs to be a PLAYERS SCREEN. The GM screen doesn't seem to have most of the Basic Stuff found in the Players Book. There is some ,but not a lot for Jounrneys, Fellowship and Combat Stances (the basics). I have used many systems in the past, and the common complaint is that info on the GM Screen is TOO basic...now I find myself eating my words over the TOR GM Screen. haha.
The Basic Rules in the Book are terribly laid out, like as bad as Warhammer FRP 3rd Edition. I like the system, I just wish there were still better break downs than what I have seen, but you know, it's still a young system. Also, can I ask a basic question...like Hit Point in D&D, is there a way (other than taking the Wisdom Reward) to increase Endurance for a PC, or is the point of this system to keep the same Endurance no matter how experienced. I can see points for and against this idea, but I just wanted to know if I was missing something. Thanks Everyone!! Keep Gaming! |

Crimso,
If you haven't already done so, take a look through the stickied Resources thread. You should find a link to the vastly improved Index. I think everyone in the community considers this to be a critical game component to TOR. -------------------- Garn!
I have yet to read the books thoroughly. |

Garn,
Thanks, but the index does not help me to quick reference without thumbing though the books. I was just hoping for some quick equations and Skill & Trait descriptions. This system will be new to my players as it is me. They skim rules though sadly...I can forsee Traits, Blessings and Virtues slowing our game down in looking them up and finding out how to invoke them. and Endurance? Goes up in any way? |

There are no ways bar Virtues that Endurance can be increased in the RAW so far as I know, but you could always allow it, it's your game after all. I think the main reason is that once you develop weapon skills and such, it WILL be easier to defeat a troll, but there will still be a chance it can go wrong
