I'm going to be starting a TOR game soon. While the PDFs are very handy, I'm eagerly awaiting my physical boxed set. Have these started being sent out yet?

Seems pre-orders have been showing up, but no sign at retailers yet...which is where I will be purchasing mine...and it is a slipcase with maps and dice inside, check some of the pics that are out there...it is sweet...

Advanced preorders have shown up. I don't think any normal preorders have shown up yet.

October is the current estimated date, and mid to late at that.

Of course, PDFs are available now through DTRPG.

Really?

That's disappointing. I thought it was supposed to be this month. sad.gif

They arrive with C7 before the end of this month but it will probably take a few weeks to hit stores.

Thanks, folks! I ordered mine not too long after Gen Con. I guess I'll just have to be patient.

At least I have the PDF!

My physical copy arrived today! So very, very pretty! And just after I ran my first session, in time for the second session!

Cool Joshua!

How has your experience been thus far with running the game?

After running two sessions, I like it a lot.

The standard TN of 14 is tough on new heroes, but that just makes them spend Hope more, which I think is a good thing. Adventuring in Middle-earth should wear at a hero's hope. That's why you go home or seek sanctuary during the Fellowship phase.

There were some times when I had to look up some rule or another, but the basic mechanic is pretty easy to get used to, and I love it when a Gandalf rune or Eye of Sauron pops up on the Feat die (which I keep wanting to call the Fate die).

I'm looking forward to running more sessions and really getting into the structure and mechanics of the game, with Experience Points, Advancement Points, Treasure, Standing, Fellowship Phases and so on. Good stuff!

Yes! Me too!

I think it's a better name, in many ways. Tolkein does talk about fate from time to time.
