And inside the sourcebook I have encountered, that the Town Watchman on p. 8 doesn't have a combat skill and no endurance value. I would give them Axe at two ranks. And Endurance 18.

Good spot. Some NPCs don't have such values but I think they are applicable for the Town Watch. I would suggest Sword though as it seems to be a more cultural weapon for the Lakemen (ie, the captain statblock below uses one and it's also used within the PC culture later in the book)?

No, Longsword is not the weapon of choice for a normal Town Watchman. In the desciption on p.7 is clearly stated that they use a small axe.

I further noticed, that the Bowmen of Lake-Town are clearly missing, no stats... sad.gif
But so far, nothing that realy irks me.

Good point. Reading that fully now, I don't think they actually should have a weapon skill at all as they are non-combatant firemen.

Yes, firemen, but I think even a fireman could handle an axe. wink.gif

Heh, yeah, possibly. smile.gif I would suggest not in combat though and therefore it [the axe] would be used as an instrument to facilitate their common skills when performing their duties, which is why I personally wouldn't assign them a combat skill rating.

Woohoo Got Mine in Melbourne, Australia!!

One comment - I wish the beautiful map of the town was a pullout, as that would make it easier to make copies for my players!

My players last night said the exact same thing. I was hopeful that C7 could do a pdf of just the map but even that may not be allowed due to the recent shenanigans regarding electronic copies of things - 'tis a real shame.

There is a mistake on the LM screen, Table 1.3, Miserable:

I think the text in the Trigger section should be:"Hope equal or below Shadow Rating"

Still nothing here sad.gif

I find it very disheartening to see it reach Austrailia and New Zeland long before me, since I'm only one hour away from UK.

Should I worry?

Not as long as your hope is above your Shadow Rating. wink.gif

I believe not, as some people in Germany have received their LM screen days ahead of me.

There's a table on the screen (4.3) which details cursed treasure and shadow gained from it. I can't seem to find hide nor hair of it in the rulebooks. Anyone have any insights as to where it came from?

Nope, but I find it very useful. Somewhere in the text of the LM book is something mentioned about corrupted treasure, but I would have to made a decision on the fly about the amount of Shadow points, if my players should encounter something like that. I remember that in "The Marsh Bell" party members could collect a Shadow point if the character failed a Corruption test as they opened the box hidden by Balin, which contained a jewel from the dragon hoard of Erebor.

I received mine in the post this morning, over two weeks after receiving an email from the UK that it had been sent. Mail from the UK to Denmark is notoriously slow and I was a little worried, because a few parcels from my parents have, in the past, failed to arrive.

Now, to take the cellophane off and eat the contents of this little parcel with my eyes ...

Quick first impression - this is the sturdiest screen I have ever ever seen. The artwork is Delicious. The map of Laketown just blew my mind.

My wife just asked me if the rest of geekworld was rejoicing this morning.

So does anyone know where/how I can go online to check status of my order? I'm in the US. I ordered it online and paid via paypal a couple weeks ago.

Thanks,

Oh finally my package from Amazon arrived and I must say I'm completely in love with this screen! It's super quality, thick, sturdy and beautiful. I love the artwork and all the tables are very well useful. (Loved the quote too lol)

Also the Lake-Town sourcebook is very good too. My only complain could be the lack of a seperate map of the Lake-Town but all in all I loved this product!

I'm glad it's all turning out well for you.

Unfortunately to date - I have heard nothing (I'm in California) and I've even emailed a couple different addresses among C7 sales as well as Dominic, along with my invoice number, and heard nothing back as to when to expect it - ordered it back in September.

Just to get a confirmation that my payment was received and that my order is being shipped and ETA would be a nice affirmation and quell my growing anxiety about whether or not I'll be getting my copy.

If anyone has any other suggestions for follow up then just emailing the Sales address, would be helpful and appreciated.

Thanks,

Well, there's your problem. wink.gif

That is unusual. The few times I have had to contact C7 they were very prompt in returning my communcation. I hope you get everything sorted out soon.

I've got mine last week, translated into Spanish and everything. I have to see it's very nice and useful and I really like the booklet that comes with it. It's good to see some new monsters, although including Ogres could be streching the canon a little bit since they are only mentioned only once and according to Tolkien scholars it probably means "any evil big creature". However from a gaming perspective I understand the decision to include them.

That's so they can display the front cover and back cover with the LM Screen inserted. Its a common technique for GM screens that also have a book attached.

Well this is significantly less than average. I just received response from C7 in my email and told me that they've run out - and I wont get one until next year when they print more.

I ordered it back in September. Needless to say I'm a bit bent.

Hey Dom, I'm not 100% certain what "pinging" you means - I hope it's nothing dirty. tongue.gif

I have sent you an Private Message on this board - i have a feeling that's what you meant.

If it isn't, regardless you should have a private message from me in your inbox.

Sorry about resurrecting a (sort of) old topic, but I got the Lake-Town Book for Christmas, and now that I've digested everything I wrote a review for it on my blog. It can be found here.

The short summary is that I love it, and consider it a worthy addition to my collection despite the fact that I don't normally use GM screens (this is the first I've ever bought). Great job!

Also loving Men of the Lake. If only I could take a break from the Loremaster's seat to play a character, lol.
