Look in the TOR resources tread above, second of the pinned treads at the top of the forum page.

You will find a topic called: Greyscale character sheets for thrifty printing made by Jon Hodgson: with the following links:

Are the jpgs out of focus on-screen? Or on paper?

If it's on-screen, it is the PDF display function which tends to Fit Page to Screen. If it's the printed page, you might have a Shrink / Fit Page or equivalent function making the print out weird.

With the image 2550x3300 pixels, that sounds approx correct for a full page (no margins at all) print-out at 300 dpi (off the top of my head). But your printer might be shrinking the image to fit on the page due to print settings for margins or even driver limitations. Adjust things and then you might have to print one incorrectly (draft mode) to verify placement or adjust things further, as appropriate.

If you've tried all this and are still having problems with blurred jpgs, then it might have been the conversion from color to B&W. Which means you either need an alternate source doc (like you're asking for) or...

You might be able to get a cleaner copy from Azrapse's Web Character Builder which is B&W except for the TOR logo. Although the blank field lines (these: _______) might not appear on an unfilled sheet. There was a programming problem that occurred this last Friday and I have not seen an 'It's Fixed' note; it might not be possible to use the website to generate a character presently. But an unfilled version of the sheet might be possible.

I can see that you are Johnny on the Spot on the boards, thanks!!

I have tried the adjustments and that is why I was asking...about a printer friendly character sheet in PDF form.

If you "click" on the image (which looks out of focus for being zoomed-in when you load the link), you'll see its resolution.

I printed mine from that doc and the resolution was fine.

SUCCESS!!!

Again I wasn't trying to be difficult but after playing with the settings on the viewer and then the print settings I was able to get what I was looking for.

Thanks for the help!

Great to hear that you were able to get a viable print-out! user posted image

Do you recall specifically what you needed to correct? If you could post the needed changes, you will be helping the next user with the same difficulty. I'm a strong believer in 'paying it forward'.

Johnny on the Spot.... Nah! I get a lot of help from the folks here. Sometimes, I am just passing along what I learned about in earlier conversations in these forums. Other times, being unaware of how exactly to help, I try to engage the questioner into revealing additional, hopefully vital, detail that makes a third reader recognize the problem and speak up to reveal their own wisdom.

There are several character sheet versions posted on rpggeek.com. Most of which (including mine) are printer friendly. I'll be revising mine in a week or two, based upon player feedback (and looking at 3 of my 5 players sheets as played, and noting what they marked that wasn't on the sheet.

For me it was the difference in how my Ipad was seeing it originally and then how the PC was seeing it.

I was able to print from the PC without issue so I'm not sure why my Ipad was "seeing" it differently. Once I was on my PC and could play with the viewer and printer option on fitting to the page it worked like a charm!

Thanks to all for their help!

Apologies folks, PDFs are coming just as soon as possible - the jpegs are a somewhat compromised stand in holding the "better than nothing" position in the battle line. As soon as I get some spare time I'll arrange pdfs to go up.

Hey, Aramis, I can't find those RPGGeek sheets.. Have they been moved or did I produce an epic fail?

Does downloading from RPG Geek require establishing a user account? I've tried to download multiple times but I keep looping (Captcha entered, screen updates, new Captcha displayed endlessly. No download links.)

I ask because some of my settings and/or plugins could be interfering with Firefox.

I'm not certain, but I don't think so. I'd turn off some extensions, first.

I will note that, as a logged in member, I don't see captchas at all. And I have downloaded (rarely) without being logged in. They did, however, recently upgrade the boards and may have broken something by accident.

@hogscape: thanks!

Just double-checked... the Captcha is gone, but "(Log in to download.)" has appeared next to the file names. So an email verified account is required.

This is the reason I haven't added Aramis' sheets to the resources thread, just for the record. Because I'd need a log in to view them I haven't been able to check them out. If you feel so inclined, and could get them up on dropbox or similar service that doesn't require a log in, I'll link them in the sticky, Aramis.

Also: PDF character sheets went up on the c7 downloads page a couple of weeks ago. I haven't had a chance to mention it here yet! smile.gif

Hi Jon! I know I'm asking for quite a bit, but Francesco made an updated character sheet with carried weapons listed separate from weapon skills. Can those be available on the C7 downloads area too, in color and black and white?

Also, I don't know who created a fillable PDF of the original character sheet, but I use it the most. I would definitely like the updated character sheet as a fillable PDF. Whoever did the first one did a great job. I don't have the expensive Adobe software to do it, or I would do it myself. OpenOffice has very limited capabilities in creating fillable PDFs. It can do it, but not very well.

I have searched the internet for fillable character sheets and found some, but the formatting is not up to my expectations.

Yes, I noticed that a lot of the resources mentioned in earlier forum topics are no longer available as they were being hosted by a free service with some type of availability limit (log in every X months, X downloads/views per month, etc). Services like, 4Shared, ImageShack, Mediafire, etc.

Francesco's modified CS is one of the files no longer available. I tried downloading it a little while ago.

I don't do dropbox. RPGGeek didn't require login to grab files until recently, and shouldn't even now. (Registered users do NOT get the captcha.)

That's odd. I was asked for log in when you sent them to me originally. Ah well, at least the links are here on the forum.
