Hello, One player has chosen "Reinforced" for his first reward. It can only be chosen once.
It is a reinforcement of the structure of the shield in question, as the following paragraph proves..
Now, lets say during the course of campaigning, he changes/loses his reward reinforced shield for whatever reason. Is the reward lost? May he get another shield reinforced using his original reward? In other words is the Reward a permanent characteristic of the character? This also brings into play another possibility, is it possible that lost reinforced from other heros shields might be found and used? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Anyway on to another matter, the player created a Dwarf of the Lonely Mountains and chose "Lesson in Revenge" as his background. He also wrote up a story of his background that is pretty cool. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ He is Glourn son of Feskil the trader. His family had a trade route from the Iron Hills down through Lake Town. Shortly after the Battle of the Five Armies his family caravan was attacked by orcs and his mother, sis and younger brother were slaughtered. This left only his father alive. His father became bitter and obsessed with avenging his family. He took to taking Glourn on long journeys into dangerous places to kill orcs and other dark things. Glourn shared his father's hatred of Orc's and other creatures of shadow, but did not share his obsession. His heart slowly broke as he watched his father descend into drink and madness. His father disappeared while Glourn was asleep one night at a camp out in the wilds. He searched long and hard, but found no trace of him. He made an oath to his dead family and his missing father to fight the tide of shadow creeping out of the east. He is quiet by nature, but has a keen awareness of his surroundings. He is a dependable and hardy companion, quick to laugh and slow to anger, but when angered it is long before he cools. He is skilled in fire making and smithcraft, which was his families specialty before the dark times. He makes his living doing the odd smithing job and working as a caravan guard for other dwarven traders. He was in Lake Town when he heard other dwarves talking about the missing emissaries and decided to help find them. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I think I will make the reward shield an heirloom of his family. I think it would have more meaning as the only thing he has remaining from his father. At our first game session I will describe the shield in detail to try and give it its own sense of purpose or emotional value. What do you think? -------------------- You never know how Bright you are until you have met True Darkness

Rewards on equipment gain "plot immunity". This means that they cannot be lost, stolen, or broken.
(at least not permanent - I don't see why you couldn't say have it lost for an encounter or game day and be part of a quest to retrieve it but this should be very rare as the character earned it). I think your story and the item tied in to it sounds very good. -------------------- Robert

Ahhh very good. I was anticipating something like that as an answer. I was imagining such a scenario might play out, but way down the line. Things like that seem to find their own opportunity. Thanks for the reply -------------------- You never know how Bright you are until you have met True Darkness
