There have been quite a few topics on SF/fantasy news sites lately about different adaptations of Tolkien's work:

Illustrators he liked... and didn't.

Lord Of The Rings from early 90s Finnish TV. Perhaps most notable for its rather different take on Boromir in particular.

And now a 1980s Russian version of The Hobbit.
