Thanks again Narl! I like keeping the same style, even in the helps I make for myself and my players.

For our first session I added some adjective to my stance cards to make calculation easier and because I like to limit talking about numbers where I can. So I would say the Orcs are 'Tough' (which to me means +5 Parry) and the players would just look at their current stance cards to see what to roll. Worked pretty well, and I'll definitely use it again.

Forward:
Formidable 15
Challenging 13
Tough 11
Puny 9

...

Defensive:
Formidable 21
Challenging 19
Tough 17
Puny 15

Note I rounded up and made a broken shield of any type a one category drop for simplicity, but rounded Rally and other combat effects down to make them more effective.

Some interesting ideas here for Stance Cards. I find it interesting that most everyone immediately saw a need for something and went to work on it. When I played this at GenCon we immediately saw a need for a visual reference. I have been traveling all over on business since GenCon and next week I hope to get a chance to make my own version for the game I will be running.

Since the game is based on the characters being a Company I was thinking that instead of each person having a card that having something in the center of the table that everyone would use to show their position on would be nice. I am thinking of something like a half circle with a band for each stance with the "to hit" base. Then possibly some notes at the bottom. I think we will use glass beads or something similar to represent the characters. Just my thoughts.

When I get back to the States I plan to do a write up on my experience with the game at GenCon, which was great, and meeting Francesco.

I am in Henley, Oxfordshire for today and tomorrow and will be in London on Saturday so any suggestions on things not to miss would be great.

I'd suggest not missing the plane! smile.gif

But on more serious note...

I printed out some stance cards, one per player, but there is wisdom in your suggestion of a mat with stances on it shared by the players.

I may work on an A3 mat with stances in the centre, combat options and rules printed along each edge for the players (and me) to read.

Once it's laminated, I can use white board pens to make in game notes and wipe clean after the session.
