If one character (or monster or loremaster character) is surprised, do you still add his attribute/wits to parry?

Theres no official rule that ive seen that indicates you do not. So I would say yes you do. There is no Flat-Footed condition in this game.

But there are Proudfoot, Puddifoot, Twofoot and Whitfoot

And who was it that thought putting Twofoot and Nob as hobbit names was not going result in the obvious?

Yes, that's two of the characters in my game! I should have edited the names list before I let them have a look at it!

You still add the parry score to the TN to-hit. A surprised character doesn't roll Battle for the extra dice though ( combat advantages), and they don't make opening volleys (unless their elf has a woodland bow).
