Has anyone had any issues with the bindings on their copies of Tales from Wilderland? I have the PDF so the physical copy has been on my shelf for months.. but I just recently took it down and started reading/using it and it fell apart. And I'm VERY careful with all my books.

I've already spoken to Cubicle 7 and sent them pictures and they were kind enough to offer to send a replacement but, as I told them, out of loyalty to the game line and those who work on it, I'd rather purchase an additional copy once it's back in stock.

I'm just curious to know if I'm the only one with a "bad" copy of Tales from Wilderland?

No you're not. Others have posted similar issues. My good friend just got his copy and the LMB fell apart when he first opened it - and he too is careful with books.

All that said - C7 has been tremendously responsive to people's issues, and has shown shining example of customer service in getting them replaced.

Mine have held together fine. But I am hypervigilant and careful of them after having read others' issues.

This post is referencing Tales From Wilderland Only. We already know and have heard from people having issues with the bindings on the Core Set books.

My copy appears a lot tighter than the ones I have of the main rulebooks so I'd expect it to hold together. I've not heard of people having problems with TfW to be honest.

Mine is fine, though the heavy paper stock/paperback combo C7 uses for TOR always has me worried how those pages will stay in smile.gif

Mine probably isn't faulty, but still isn't very high quality, which is a shame, because the content is good and I would like it to last. I read it twice, played with the book open, and now the first and last few pages are coming off.

That's probably not going to happen, but if there was a more expensive option with a better binding, I would gladly pay for it.

OOops - I sit corrected. unsure.gif

In that case - I have not had any such issues, nor heard of any.

No problems with TfW yet, but my core books are starting to show heavy wear. The glue has pretty much completely failed on my AB, but the string that binds each individual section together is holding up well enough that I don't see the pages "falling out" any time soon. The books have definitely seen their share of use, but they're not nearly as durable as other RPG books that I own.

I'm not too OCD about the condition of my books so until pages actually start falling out I don't care how "sloppy" it looks otherwise, but I'm sure a lot of other consumers do. While it won't affect whether or not I personally purchase future products, I would advise C7 that given the prevalence of the issue (I've seen a LOT of complaints about this online, and there are probably more customers that have the problem but never get around to writing about it) that they reconsider the way that these books are bound. To their credit they've been VERY good about replacing damaged books, but in the long run it'll probably be cheaper for them to go with a new method of binding that's a bit more expensive than to keep replacing faulty books.

The reason I mention the core books is because the glue didn't fail right away as it did with some people. Since TfW looks like it has similar binding, I won't be surprised if it starts to fail after a little more use as well.

Sorry you had the problem with TfW Beckett! It's the first report we've had on that title, but we will replace any faulty books.

The next two books (at least) will be hardcover, so will have a different binding.

Hardcover!!!! Oh, Dom, you just made my day!! :-) When can I get my greedy hands on them hardcover books? :-)

Also -- Thank you for the note, and the offer. Like I said to Jon, I'd rather buy a new copy of Tales from Wilderland.

Ack, those will look odd on my shelf next to the softcovers! I hope you now realise that you have to produce a hardcover version of the main rulebooks! tongue.gif

@SirKickley: "Indeed - consistency for us OCD folks!"

I'm still laughing at your post.

Yes, the hardbound announcement is wonderful news! This should certainly go a long way to satisfying all of us OCD fans:)

Yes, I have an apparently weak binding on my TfW as well. In addition, both the AB & the LB have bindings that are all but falling apart - not from normal usage in the game, as I have yet to actually play the game & only read them.

It's been a while & I shredded my receipt, however, so I no longer can send that; & to support the game I also decided not to (at this point) request replacements.

Ditto!

It would be really cool if the previous main core books would be hardcover too. I would buy them again. If not, that's fine. I am so glad I don't have OCD. smile.gif

I don't have the Tales book yet, but my core books did fall apart. It wasn't that much of an issue since the pages are stitched. I keep the LM book, LM screen, Lake-town book, and maps in the slipcover, effectively turning that into a "Loremaster only" set, and I plan to three-hole punch the AB and keep it in a binder, since the cover fell apart. Seems a good solution, and it'll make it easier to use during the game, I think. If the "Tales" book has the same problem, I'll most likely do the same thing with that.
Hardcover will be nice, though, for the future books! That's good news!
