Hi everyone, I was recently very impressed with the map of Moria, and there's also a thread kicking around containing an amazing map of dale. I was trying to find a decent map of the inside of the lonely mountain, so I can have consistency in my campaign. The best I could do was the following link

Map of Erebor

The annotations on the original blog aren't all that detailed and the map is, well, not of the same calibre as some of the ones floating around here. Does anyone know of a more detailed map, maybe more akin to the map of Moria, including the deeper delvings and mines? If not, then to the literal drawing board it is, I guess!

Thanks!

I don't have much to add, i have no map nor have I seen one, but I do have one thing to say... the map you posted looked to me like it had north on the top, like the modern map making convention would predict, I' suggest though for Erebor that you use the dwarven norm of making north on the left and east on the top.... like Thrain's map from "The Hobbit"

Whilst i would love to take credit for that map it comes from one of the old ICE modules for MERP, i think they used the northern orientation purely for uniformity with other diagrams etc. however when i do sit down and draw something out eventually I will definately take that into consideration.

If I recall correctly I think there were three such maps of Erebor from ICE

Page 111 of The Atlas of Middle-earth by Karen Lynn Fonstad also has a nice map of the exterior & one of a cut-away view (from the side) of the interior. I won't post it here in case it causes legal problems, but you should be able to find it online or through inter-library loan.

A good book, this one.

Agreed, she did an excellent job tongue.gif

Another book that has some beautiful Middle-earth maps that doesn't get a lot of attention is Barbara Strachey's Journeys of Frodo.
