Any people interested in playing the amazing The One Ring RPG by Cubicle 7? It is based on Tolkien's The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings and is the best Middle Earth RPG ever. Now that the adventure/campaign pack Tales From Wilderland has been released this would be a great time to start a brand new campaign. Would any of you be interested in playing via a virtual tabletop (not pbp) and using voice chat such as Skype?
I'd rather be a player so if any of you would be interested in Loremastering (GM'ing) please let me know. I have lots of tools I can provide to aid in this. If no Loremaster can be found I'd possibly do so myself. How many people are interested in this? I hope to see you in Middle Earth soon! |

I have an interest but I have very little GMing experience and would rather be a player.

It plays by Skype fairly well... but I'll note for your benefit that the following have been difficulties for my two skyped-in players in my FTF game:
I use poker chips for hope when playing... and a pile in the center for hope in the fellowship pool. I was doing so for End, as well, but it's just too frequently changing. While not in the core box, the fan-made stance mats are bloody awesome... if you can see them. -------------------- Please private message me and get my permission before reposting any of my post content elsewhere. Thanks.

I would love to participate as a player.
I agree that the fan made stance mats are great. |

I can recommend MapTool from RPTools. It's a free virtual table top. An enterprising player could easily develop macros to facilitate various checks, but basic expressions for die rolls are simple enough. I've used MapTool in conjunction with Ventrilo extensively and it's almost always proven to be a positive experience.

Are you talking about a PBEM type game, or a real-time kind of thing, where we all meet online at a certain time? I have tried PBEM games many times, and had not very good success. Never tried a real-time game

Real-time. I play in several different ones each week with a few different groups and have had a ton of fun. |

Ah, well, that pretty much knocks me out. I get one night a week for gaming, the rest of the time is taken up with other things

I'm the same way. I can make time throughout my day for answering emails or posts, but almost impossible to commit to anything real-time. Plus, no offense anyone, but I've had some experiences which make me wary to engage in real-time conversations over the internet with people I've never met in person. |

I am very interested in running a game of TOR, with Skype, using Maptools for the playmats for combats and journeys.
My schedule for game play is pretty open. I live in Moutain Standard Time, and I can play any time during Saturdays, Evenings on Sundays, and Most mornings on the Weekdays. Anyone want to start an online skype game then? d |

That looks awesome, actually. I wonder what it would take to modify it. How many folks are on Google+ here? |

I've been running a game on Sunday evening, using Fantasy Grounds, for several months now. We completed our fifth adventure just before Easter, taking the party up to the end of 2947. Next session, we'll be doing a Fellowship phase and end of year. Then on to 2948. I'm working up to the return of the Nazgul to Mirkwood and, hopefully, the Darkening of Mirkwood campaign.

To Brooke, Killianred, or anyone,
I know the thread was set up for real-time, but is there anyone interested in running a pbem? HN -------------------- About Eowyn,

I'd be interested in PBeM as well. More so than real time at this point in fact.

Hi Hoplite, I would be interested in playing inna PBEM. I must warn you though, that I've never PBEMed before and might be a bit of a doofus at first.

I've enjoyed my experiences at PbEM. It moves slower, more typically the play is more descriptive. Somehow, typing lends itself to more expressive play. |

I have tried a couple but one fizzled out and two I had to leave due to other commitments. I also agree with Brooks statement. Tabletop is like a movie and PBEB is like a book. I emailed my friend so I am awaiting his reply. As of now with Halbarad, that makes 4 players which enough for each journey position. Several questions, Should we set up our own board for playing? Should be ask permission to set one up here so people can see how the game is run by following our thread? How do we handle dice rolls? The LM makes all rolls? Do we make it only storytelling style will no rolls. Or do we trust each with the die rolls? Here is a link that may be useful for helping us guiding us on our way: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Play-by-post_role-playing_game HN -------------------- About Eowyn,

Before I commit to anything, I need to make clear: I do not Skype with people I do not know in "real life." The reason for this is that some time ago I picked up an internet stalker via a play-by-Skype group. It was quite disturbing, so I have a firm rule on the matter now.
So, if there is any expectation of Skyping, I will need to bow out in advance. |

Good luck with your game! Have you considered doing a web page for your PBEM campaign? The link below is an example from the "Aces & Eights" Wild West setting RPG:
Guns in the Cauldron I would love to read about your group's adventures! -------------------- |
