Amazon.com (US) has the date of May 22, 2013 for the release of Heart of the Wild. Similarly, the date of July 3, 2013 is given for The Darkening of Mirkwood. I have no confirmation for either date.

Amazon release dates are best guesses at the most optimistic.
I'll believe it when I see it. -------------------- ![]() Current EU RPG Group Games: European FG2 RPG Friday (8pm to 11pm UK time; Ultimate License) - Classic Traveller Sunday (8pm to 11pm UK time; Ultimate License) - The One Ring: Adventures over the Edge of the Wild Using Ultimate FGII and can accept unlicensed player connections on some of the games. ----------------- LOTRO - Brandywine Server Halbras - Hobbit Hunter / Jonab - Bree-folk Captain / Ardri - Dwarf Guardian / Halaberiel - Elf Hunter |

I'm with Valarian.
I saw these last year in October on Amazon scheduled to be available before Christmas. So yeah, I'll believe Amazon's schedule once I see it twice. -------------------- Robert

Oh, I don't trust those dates, especially since it was my understanding that The Darkening of Mirkwood was expected to be released before Heart of the Wild. I have simply reported them with the hope of having them either confirmed or busted.

We are getting close to Gen Con. Previous releases came out then or just after.
There's a lot on the C7 schedule now, including a Dr Who sourcebook a month (that right?) by the same author doing our TOR books. There is a UK con in Birmingham coming up end of May, would have been nice to see one released there, but we should have had the solicitation by now I would expect. Tales was put on the shop on pre-order in Feb 2012 and was available for Aug 2012 (ie Gen Con) - tho C7 said they wanted to shorten that pre-order to release time. Let's see. -------------------- ![]() 222 off being the Devil member |

I can confirm that release dates on amazon are random. AFAIK, they need a release date, so when the publisher can't give one, they just invent one. |

Tales was also available in pdf before being sold in dead tree format. We don't have this problem since Saruman, in a cunning move to defeat the ents, banned the pdf version. |

I doubt we will see anything before Gencon me thinks

Not to start a row, but the lack of news & publishing is very frustrating. All three of these were originally scheduled for Autumn 2012, & now we'll be lucky to get the first two this year. My guess is that we won't even see Rivendell (TBC) in 2013, & good luck with the 'unannounced releases.' It's very discouraging & I doubt I'm the only fan who feels this way.

I spent all my Hope on this line a long time ago, probably about the time that I had to order dice from a game store on another continent. I'm glad to have TfW, as it's a very solid product that you can run as-is, and it's useful as a guide for folks wanting to create adventures with a consistent vibe. I don't really need anything else from C7, although I'd like to give them more money. With the PDF ban in effect (thanks, lawyers!), I'll probably pass on future products anyway. ![]() |

I vividly recall when you originally posted this during the fracas about the pdfs. I've thought a lot about your point since, & I'm very disappointed that we don't have them (the scans).
That said, however, I'll continue to purchase the line as long as they run it, in whatever format they select. Their professionalism & high quality are superb. I also agree with you about the future of the line, & my primary concern is how long they'll continue to publish it. They do a brilliant job with what they have & I hope they'll continue past this year because they have so much untouched in Middle-earth (Eriador, Moria, the South, Mordor, Umbar, you name it). I'm stoked that they're going to issue the next two in hardbound volumes (despite the difficulty of working with dead tree), but their slow production is exasperating ![]() |

You're not. It's the main reason why our group only plays TOR as our alternate game - one out of three concurrent ongoing campaigns. Pathfinder is still the main focus amongst us and makes up for 75% of the games we play when we get together; despite a couple of players and myself preferring to play TOR over it. There's simply too much goodness in Pathfinder being developed to leave it unexplored. And since the majority of the guys in my circle like all the published stuff, I can't really argue their point. So we play TOR only when certain players who greatly prefer Pathfinder cannot play. (Luckily tonight is one such night). ![]() -------------------- Robert

I hear ya Sir Kickley.
Actually, from what you've shared on here, you have a great ToT game & your players seem to be enjoying themselves. Speaking of which, I should think you could have them search for Reedmace or Water-lily in one of the streams flowing into Anduin, or Kingcup in the Gladden Fields (if they get that far south from the inn). If I were to introduce any of them into my game, I wouldn't have a problem with any of the above ![]() |

Thanks for that info, Mim. I'll be sure to employ that in tonight's game as options.
You're right I do tend to have a great game, and my players do enjoy themselves. I have three five players all under the age of 18; one is only 8. So that's why some of what I post is to ask for specific examples as some players simply don't have the desire, or ability (yet) to come up with a lot of examples on their own). We have so many we have two different campaigns going on simultaneously so we switch off which game we are going to do based off who is available to play that particular weekend. Tonight is the game I run. -------------------- Robert

I think anyone has every right to be concerned about the loss of the licesnes without putting out more than 3 products in 3.5 years. It's a quality game, that still needs a lot of help from the fan base. I want to commit so much more to playing this game, but we wil quickly run out of material in a year...we are already half way through ToW. Think of the others who have been playing longer than that. Yes, you can certainly make your own stuff up, but why should we? We're adults and frankly, just too busy to house rules so much. I like playing source material. No shame in that. I praise this system as much as I can on other boards but I am very worried I will never get to another product and my player interest fades. I honestly think Fantasy Flight is waiting in thw wings, ready to eat this licesnse up to replace Warhammer FRPG 3rd. It makes sense based on them having so much Art, Cards, Boardgames and even their own Characters developed. Good Luck C7, but I am severly disappointed in the rate of production. There, I will get off my soapbox now and get flame'ed. But I'm starting to question if this is worth investing in anymore.

No Flame from me dude. I share your concerns, except for the bit about FFG ![]() ... I remember in the beginning when it was declared that the first adventure would not be out until December... the game was released in August and I was worried that 3-4 months would be a little too big a gap and that the game would lose a lot of it's momentum and fans would drop off playing other games. At that time I was named "storm crow" here on these forums and I admit it was a little premature, but my worry was real... seems like more crows have joined me and we are now quite the 'murder'. Hmmm... 'A Murder of Crows'.... sounds like a ToR Adventure doesn't it? /wolf -------------------- "Pain, as the billing vouchsafes, is painful..."

Hi GhostWolf, I have to just note here that I adopted the title 'A Murder of Gorcrows' for the homebrew adventure I'm just concluding with my own group right now. I'm not especially proud of it as a title, but I like the addition of the 'Gor', as it embeds the title firmly and specifically in Middle-earth. The AP writeups in full Osric prose are appearing on my Obsidian Portal site -- which is admittedly quite a long way behind the actual action now. The date in my sig doesn't reflect a lapse in play, just an emphasis on getting the content out in haste to the players themselves instead of spending the time to primp it for publication online. (If any of you guys are reading it, let me know, and I'll be more likely to give a higher priority to sharing it online too!) Cheers! --Os. -------------------- The Treasure of the House of Dathrin - Actual Play of original material in HârnMaster, 2008

Just adding my concern that the release schedule has gotten too sparse. In fact my gaming group will be moving on to Savage Worlds in about 2 weeks because we exhausted TfW and I don't have the bandwidth to do that much of my own homebrew stuff.
So sad. |
