The list of ENnie nominations has been released, and TOR is on the list more than once!

Adventures Over the Edge of the Wild is up for Best Art, Interior and Best Production Values.

Words of the Wise is up for Best Free Product.

IMO all of the nominations are very justified and congratulations are in order for the TOR and Cubicle 7 staff! Well done everyone!

Here's the full list:

Shut out of the major award categories is unspeakable! I'm at a loss for words. How did the Savage Worlds Deluxe version get nominated, when 95% of it is simply reprinted from the Explorer's Edition???

Have to agree with that...

No nominations in Product of the Year, Best Rules, Best Game (for the main rules) or Best Adventure (for Tales from Wilderland) makes me wonder what the panel picking these games have been snorting.

I can understand TfW getting overlooked as its still only available in PDF but to overlook TOR for the other categories is pretty crazy.

My guess is that the release didn't help when it came to awards. TOR was kind of released at GenCon last year, then kind of released again to non-GenCon people later. The excitement was more spread out, with, in the case of the GenCon release, about as long a time as is possible to have between release and nomination.

That's just a feeling, I have nothing to back it up.

I would say that for me TOR is the winner in all the categories.

I agree that there's something fishy when TOR is not recognized for how impressively solid it is as a system. I agree, though, that there are a number of factors which make that understandable. In addition to what Matchstick said, it's possible that some felt that we didn't really need another LotR RPG since the last one just came out in 2002. Kind of how many feel that we don't need another Spider-Man origin movie so soon. So instead of being judged on its own merits, it needed to first prove that it was necessary, and then start proving it was good enough for awards.

I'm afraid but I'm going to have to disagree with you here on those reasons. If we apply that kind of logic then no new RPGs dealing with, for example, the Cthulhu mythos would be nominated, or D&D/Pathfinder, or Savage Worlds Deluxe, or countless other RPGs - and now and in the past they have been.

It is what it is, I suppose. Colour me confused about the process they apply to picking their nominations though.

Rich H, if you go to the ENnies site, it looks like every year fans can apply to be a nominee as an ENnies judge. After the nominees are selected, fans vote on which nominees will form the official panel of judges for that year. I think the same thing happens for the product nominations. Then the judges vote on product nominations and assign awards. It looks to be all fan choices.

So...that means whatever products have been nominated, they have been chosen by fans. I guess, if you don't like the choices, you can blame the entire roleplaying fan-base (because the judges are fans who were voted in by the fans).

We TOR fans (who have pristine taste) need to keep preaching about the game and those who are inclined need to apply to be judges!

Interesting James... It'd be fun to be a judge, certainly. Well, as long as what I wanted to win actually, you know, won! tongue.gif

Very good news - well done.

As others have mentioned, would have been good to see ToR and TfW nominated as best game and adventure too!
