I also posted this on rpg.net, but I'm still not sure about the reply I got:
On page 21 LMB it says “When a character is attempting to accomplish something in direct opposition with another hero, or when the goal of the action is resisted by a major Loremaster character, the action roll becomes an opposed roll (when an action roll is opposed by an individual of lesser relevance than heroes and major characters, it should be solved normally by rolling against a Target Number).” Then on page 25 LMB it says “Sneaking past someone, trying to persuade or intimidate him, attempting to judge whether someone is lying, even outrunning an individual are all examples of actions that do not need to be turned into opposed actions against a fully detailed character, but that can be handled simply and quickly as rolls against an appropriate Target Number.” I'm confused. Do you make opposed rolls against Loremaster, hero and fully detailed characters, or do you roll against a TN? |

Whichever you want to, at that moment. TOR is pretty flexible. If you want to fully stat out a LM character, you can do an opposed roll. If the situation isn't particularly critical or dramatic, and you want to keep it simple, roll against a TN. John |

Thanks John, pretty much what I was going to do, it just would have been nice to have this clarified. Not that it's a deal breaker or anything.
Anyway...! Page 17 LMB Awarding Experience Points Am I right in thinking, at the conclusion of an entire adventure, which, for argument’s sake we’ll say lasted 4 sessions, the players would get 4 xp? 1 for finishing the session 1 for completing the company objective 2 because there were 4 sessions of play 4 total? |

I make it 4 to 8. 4 - 1 for each session up to 2 - acheiving company objectives (I could see there being 1 or 2 objectives per adventure) up to 2 - supplementary XP for cool stuff -------------------- “There is nothing like looking, if you want to find something. ... You certainly usually find something if you look, but it is not always quite the something you were after."

LMB Page 41 What does holding the initiative mean, what game effect does it grant?
"Defending companions will hold the initiative" "The company’s enemy is holding the initiative" |

The side holding the initiative goes first in combat. |

I make it 6-10 XP. You get 1 per session for turning up (4). You get another 1 per session if you progressed towards your company objective (another possible 4). At the beginning of the Fellowship phase, you get 2 more (for 4 sessions). Plus I have added a house rule where you get another 1xp per session if you can justify how your actions in that session fulfilled your calling. I like to give lots of xp, and it gives both a spur to action and creates some conflict with the company objective and how to achieve it. vs |

True. Though I guess you'd only get all the company objective xps if they did indeed make in roads toward them every session.
Good spot though |
