About Eowyn,
Does anyone know what her alias Dernhelm means?

She was kown as dernhelm because of her exclaimation when she realized that the rider's headgear was heavy and obscured her sight.

'Dern Helm"

Culled from Entmoot From Kirinski 57 and Wayfarer.

Is that as in the 5th age of middle-earth? What caused the apocalypse?  Sounds very interesting...

Yes, 5th age of Middle Earth, assuming Men developed to an advanced tech civilization. The apocalypse is caused by Men inadvertently opening a pathway to the Void into which Melkor was banished in their search for greater sources of power, and him returning to Earth.

Fantastic, very creative and interesting! Thanks for sharing.

Me, I am from the south of Boston MA.

Most recent game fell apart suddenly. Currently am looking for a few good players to hopefully run the Tales of Wilderland. That or run demos at my FLGS.

Bradford, Yorkshire, England.

After many years running MERP for a group in London I relocated home to Yorkshire. About four years ago, with my new Yorkshire gaming group, I ran a homebrew adventure for an all-dwarf Company, set in the Lonely Mountain and using the HârnMaster rules.

Last year we converted several of the dwarves into TOR and I ran The Marsh Bell for them, luxuriating in detail and taking 7 (admittedly short) sessions over it -- but instead of rescuing Balin and Oin, they rescued Framleiğandi, a dwarf NPC who was required for the next phase of the story arc following on from the Lonely Mountain adventure. This is all more or less written up at the link in my .sig.

I'm currently a player in a CoC game run by one of the other guys, but am working in my own time to write the next 'Dwarves' adventure in TOR for when I next get chance to run the group's game. A baby daughter means my time is kinda limited, I also commit some of it to Assistant Editoring on Other Minds magazine, and I have a bit of writer's block on this adventure -- but I'll work through it! smile.gif

The grand vision is for the dwarves of the Lonely Mountain (and whatever friends accompany them) to follow a trail of events that leads them into Moria. They will get involved with Balin's Colony and use that as a base of operations ultimately to track down an artefact that was brought to Moria by the PCs in the MERP game I ran in the late 90s, and which could be a major asset for the Dark Lord in the War of the Ring unless the current crop of Player-heroes can foil him.
But I'm pragmatic about the speed with which I can accomplish that, so I plan to 'interleave' various of the Player-heroes in different Companies taking on the hard-to-write 'Dwarves' story arc and the already-written Tales from Wilderland and probably Darkening of Mirkwood story arcs.

I don't see myself running anything but TOR for the next several years. biggrin.gif

Cheers,
--Os.

I'm in Madrid, Spain.

I'm working on Hobbits of the Anduin valleys as player characters, but is far from finished. I'll share it here to have feedback when I have it ready.

I am an American in Rome, Italy.

At the moment, I have two projects on the burner:
1) Running a campaign set in late Spring, 2945; the heroes, Rangers of the North, are presently pursuing a band of brigands near the Swanfleet.
2) Mulling over the future of Dale, which depends a great deal on the politics, economics, and demographics not just of Wilderland, but also Rhovanion and Dorwinion. Sometime in the future, I would like to start a discussion in this forum about a mini-campaign involving the role of player heroes in expanding Dale from what is essentially a city-state into a nation roughly the size of modern-day Slovakia in a span of less than eighty years.

One of the articles slated for OM14 deals with this topic. Not exclusively, but the theme of demographics and politics of Dale (past, present and future) will be an important one. You may find some inspiration therein - once it is published smile.gif

I'm now doing some more backgrounds for each culture. My plan is to add two more to each, bringing the total to ten choices for each culture.
