This normally gives you the equivalent of a one Tengwar treasure.

Suppose the Ranger wants to be Aragorn Jr., however, and wants a famous weapon for his heirloom?

How much XP extra should he be charged for the privilege? This on the logic that if he'd rolled normally for the treasure, he'd have had to pay a max of 3 xp...but if he got a weapon, he'd have to pay 6.

So is 3 extra xp enough for the ranger to get his sword?

sound good to me, but alternatively maybe it should count as a stack on the sword instead of 3 xp.

Eh. Like I said, if it were a treasure, he'd be paying 3 XP more. I don't see a reason to charge him more then that for a reward he's already paying for.

I'd probably allow that, but with the caveat that, beyond what type of weapon it is, its stats are still determined by the GM.

The magic weapon design rules are really exploitable and not designed with anyone but the LM using them in mind.

Oh certainly.

If the player wants a superior fell, superior keen, flame of hope longsword, somebody should probably beat him over the head with it :D
