Just wanted to add some feedback on this after extensively playtesting it. I probably used it for 6-8 sessions, and my players all got so used to doing it that it was strange (for this last session) when we went back to the RAW, as we'd gone so long with this one.
Bottom line was that I liked it, but it didn't ever trigger any Revelation Episodes. A number of characters came close, but didn't actually trigger them.
Conversely, our first session back using things the old way, and we had two. Now it seemed that there were more Eyes rolled than we've ever had, so that might have contributed to it.
I know with zed's version, one thing I forgot a number of times was to add when the party went into a more dangerous terrain/territory. Still, it ended up not being as thrilling or dramatic.

Re: Eye of Mordor from the ground up
Thanks so much for the feedback!
I've also been playtesting the rule with my Darkening group and I do think that the Thresholds are too low. I think that they probably should be 2 lower for each... that does mean that very experienced High Elves and Dúnedain cannot strive with the Shadow without attracting Sauron's attention. That might be okay.

I guess for clarity, I should link the thread that we're talking about: viewtopic.php?f=56&t=4036

Oh, good call. I thought there was another, but my Palantir-fu was obviously not up to the task.
