So after several sessions that saw the fellowship battle spiders near the KIng's Hall, orcs on the elf path & a tough cave troll in Mountain Hall, our group noticed something....
Becoming weary as soon as Endurance dropped below fatigue was particularly detremental to success tests! No shit sherlock i said but then i listened to my players.
So have come up with this house rule :
Endurance Points Below Fatigue Ignore results of (on success dice)
0 -5 1
6 - 11 1-2
12+ 1-3
Have yet to test this fully but will be starting D.O.M soon and will be keen to see how it plays out over the course of an adventuring phase.
Any initial thoughts?

Re: Staggered Weary Condition
If I understand it correctly, you want to go a little bit easier on the Weary status, by adding some tiers/ranks to the penalties (in benefit of the heroes).
My first thought would be that this implies that kind of maths that annoys me in RPGs ("if your Endurance is 1/4, then you get that penalty; if it is 1/3, then you get that other one; etc.").
The options you propose are not that detailed, and would probably work ok if your group doesn't mind keeping a constant eye on the scores.
But I wonder if there wouldn't be an easier way to make the Weary status not so dangerous, if your group feels so.
You could even make it a bit less hard:
When Weary, count the results of 1 and 2 as 0 in a Success die.
By still counting the 3s, I'm sure that the game will be somewhat easier.

Great idea for a virtue or blessing, for some future culture: When Weary, you only ignore 1's and 2's.

Brave in a Pinch would have been fit for it.Glorelendil wrote:Great idea for a virtue or blessing, for some future culture: When Weary, you only ignore 1's and 2's.
