Oh, more like second or third quarter, surely. At least, so I hope.

I guess we are not getting any news about "Rivendell TBA" until The Darkening of Mirkwood hard copy has been released. And I think that is good for marketing. Best for us, costumers, if C7 gets more money.

Let focus on the ongoing release of DoM first, write some reviews in our blogs, RPGGeek item profile, discuss about it in RPG.net or similar sites. C'mon guys, C7 staff are designers, not a…

(Sorry I have to say it). ;)
Recreatividad is my blog in spanish, I write about roleplaying games, specially The One Ring, Mouse Guard, Diaspora and Prince Valiant. You can find custom characters sheets there.

Rivendell is still TBA on the schedule I seriously doubt we will see it 2Q.

What I'm most curious about is what Cultures will be included in the next core book.

If the game is based in Eriador (which would seem to make sense), I would like to see these:

Elves of Rivendell
Elves of the Grey Havens
Rangers of the North
Dunlendings
Men of Bree
Hobbits of Bree
Dwarves of the Blue Mountains

I wouldn't be surprised too if they reprint Hobbits of the Shire from the current book, as this is the actual region where they reside, of course.

I'm definitely hoping for Dwarves of the Blue Mountains, but (entirely personal opinion here) Men/Hobbits of Bree would be gratuitous effort. They just are not distinct enough of a group, in my mind. I suppose maybe some rules to the effect of, "If you want your Hobbit to be from Bree, change these 3 skills to these other three..." But nothing more than that.

Reply to DylanRPG: You will be glad to know that the upcoming Rivendell book will cover the cultures of Rivendell Elves and Rangers of the North.

Hope is not a strategy, and speculation is speculation.

I'm not sure who this is aimed at or what it is supposed to mean. You've expressed your own hope for the culture of the Dwarves of the Blue Moutains being covered.

Eriador is a large land, but sparsely populated by the end of the Third Age. The Hobbits of the Shire have been covered in the core set and the Rivendell suppliment accounts for Rivendell Elves and the Rangers of the North. The Dunlendings of Dunland would be the single largest population of Men in Eriador, but they are primative and not particularly friendly to outsiders--and actively hostile to the Horsemen of Rohan. The Folk of Bree-land include both Men and Hobbits and include the settlements of Bree, Archet, Staddle and Combe. The only other large population centers seem to be the Elves of the Grey Havens and your Blue Mountain Dwarves. As you say, it is debatable if it is worth giving the Bree-landers a fulll write-up.

I have to admit that opportunities for adventure in Eriador in the late Third Age seem relatively slight. There is little in the way of Orcs or Trolls until one nears the Misty Mountains. The Barrow-downs offer some possibilities, as do the sites of some ancient ruins. Do you think that C7's license would allow for the inclusion of the lost Dwarf-cities of Nogrod or Belegost? The former is probably drowned under the Gulf of Lune, but it might be possible to discover the ruins of Belegost. Some foul things out of Angmar might haunt the Hills of Evendim and the ruins of Annuminas. Bands of Orcs or bandits might try to base themselves in Deadmen's Dike (the ruins of Fornost, the second capital of Arnor), although I suspect the Dunedain would take exception to that. There may be horrors still lurking in the remains of the kingdom of Angmar. The city of Tharbad, in southern Eriador fell to floods in TA 2912, but I suppose that a few Inns may still be in operation along the Greenway, south of Bree.

Oh, all of us, self included. Just a reminder to not get too high or low based on guesses.

They already covered hobbits, but I'm sure they could do more with the Shire. And I'd love a hobbit campaign that would be smaller, less epic, than Darkening of Mirkwood. I'm missing the happier tone of our early adventures; it's all becoming very dark.
