I'm on the Crickhollow server.

I've played for nearly 3 years now; though over the past year, I think I've played maybe 3 months worth (usually during the festivals) - but continue to buy annual subscription because I can't let go and find myself yearning to play now and then when nothing else is going on (rare occurrence).

As an MMO - it's as good as any other - but I think does a better job than most in providing fun that doesn't include grinding or questing; there's plenty to do just doing....nothing. I don't like grinding or doing all the elite stuff, with big groups. I usually play with my family and close friends - we're all in a kinship together - which I have a hobbit house and kinhouse in the Shire. My main character is Shandralyn - a woman of Bree Warden of 70th level at this point (cap is 85). I have many other characters, but she is my favorite.

As a window into Middle-earth - it's fantastic. The lore is rich. The art and scenery is wonderful. The "feel" of it is good too - you can feel the dread and evil permeating around you. Following the epic storyline quests is very cool as it allows you to interact and intersect with the Fellowship on their journey.

I don't enjoy PvP - and this world is not a PvP world, but there is one small area that is. The rest of the world is your oyster, and I have the most fun just going around and exploring and looking, and learning everything. A much slower pace than your typical MMO-er.

I was in Beta with some friends and then played up to level 26th and the normal MMO grinding made me lose
interest. The game itself is beautiful and the music is great, I felt like I was in Middle Earth. I do miss it but not for the traditional MMO raid and grinding. I still know two of my friends that still play it and hear stories on any updates or new areas.

Sounds like you and I are similar in this regards. I do not enjoy grinding or raiding or any other cute adjective concocted to describe hardcore MMO playing.

I just love to explore the world, take part in the festivals, and enjoy the visuals, auditory music/sounds, and take part the interactive lore of the world.

I like doing the adventures and the crafting. I've not done much of the raids or instances. Occasionally I'll try one, but I can't really see the appeal. I enjoy progressing the character by exploring the world, not just killing stuff.
