Can AiME inspire less experienced TOR loremasters?
Can AiME inspire less experienced TOR loremasters?
I am wondering if any AiME products can help improve my TOR gameplay. I am not an experienced LM and am looking everywhere for useful tips, tricks and inspiration. For example: in the AiME Rhovanion guide preview I read: "First, the region in general is described, noting its borders and its major features. An especial note is made of any terrain scenery features that might be relevant in combat." Could this terrain scenery also inspire TOR gameplay/combat in Wilderland? Does it complement the TOR Rhovanion publication? Events and Encounters from AiME The Road Goes Ever On also makes me curious. Are these complementary and useful or just paraphrasing older TOR publications fascilitating D&D gameplay?
Re: Can AiME inspire less experienced TOR loremasters?
Inspiration can come from anywhere, so yes AiME can help to inspire TOR Loremasters. There are some experienced TOR Loremasters who have draw inspiration, and even some ideas for game mechanics, from AiME.
Information in AiME about terrain, regions and people should apply in TOR, since both games are set in the same place, Middle Earth, at the same time, the end of the Third Age.
That said, sometimes AimE can make things more difficult for a TOR LM. What you need to watch out for are those places where the D&D 5E rules play a part in things. Often various things in a RPG product are gear to the RPG system it is was written for. Such things probably shouldn't apply in other RPGs. So there might be things in an AimE product that you shouldn't bring over to TOR. So be careful just what you pull out of an AiME book.
