Cheat sheet for character creation

Post by Seamhainn » Thu Jan 04, 2018 9:10 am

Hello!

I searched this forum but had no success, and, yes, I know there is an online creator.

I want to create characters with my players but find the described process in the book a bit dounting. Also I want to explain to my players what which stat means in regards to game mechanics. Last but not least my players are not very fluent in the english language, so I have to explain a bit more than usual.

If some kind soul here knows of a guide which explains character creation with short explanations, a hint would be highly appreciated.

Thanks!

How detailed are you looking for? I made this for my own use, but it's really just an outline to guide me, that helped me piece together the way the steps interacted, but it doesn't explain the steps, it's mostly just headings.

1. Choose a Culture.
  • Fill in Culture, Standard of Living, Cultural Blessing.
  • Fill in Common Skills boxes.
  • Choose a package of Weapon Skills.
  • Choose two Specialties traits.
  • Choose a name.
2. Choose or roll a Background from your Culture.
  • Fill in Basic Attributes.
  • Underline a Favoured Skill chosen from the list.
  • Choose two Distinctive Features traits.
3. Choose Favoured Attributes.
  • Add 3 to one attribute, 2 to one, and 1 to one, and record in smaller boxes.
4. Choose a Calling (noting which are common or rare for your Culture).
  • Fill in Calling and Shadow Weakness.
  • Record the corresponding trait as another Specialty.
  • Underline two more Favoured skills from the specified categories.
5. Spend Previous Experience.
  • Spend 10 points to increase skills as desired.
6. Calculate Endurance and Hope.

7. Choose between Valour and Wisdom.
  • If you chose 2 Valour, choose a Reward.
  • If you chose 2 Wisdom, choose a Virtue.
8. Choose Starting Gear.
  • Include weapons, armor, travelling gear, musical instruments, and additional gear.
  • Calculate total encumbrance, and record that as fatigue.
  • Fill in armor, head gear, and shield.
9. Fill in remaining stats.
  • Experience is 0.
  • Damage is basic Body score (unless modified by traits).
  • Parry is basic Wits score (unless modified by traits).
  • Shadow is 0.
  • Advancement points and Treasure are 0.
  • Standing is 0.
10. Create a Company.
  • How and where do they meet? This specifies Sanctuaries; also record on player map.
  • Fellowship rating is equal to group size.
  • Choose people for roles.
  • Choose a Fellowship Focus.
