Is there an online copy of the Adventurers map that I could link to for a PbP game?

Just search the Web for "map of Wilderland." You don't need an exact copy of the map from the game.

If you bought the rule book from a Bits and Mortar store or from C7 they should have sent/given you the pdf. You can use the map from that.

IIRC Francesco posted a link to a non hex map updated to TfW some time last year.

You don't *need* it, but using the same map as the players has the benefit of the hexes matching up.

On a related note, I've personally considered using MERP's old map, because it is awesome: http://i2.minus.com/ihYPkeMxzaPuU.jpg

There's no need for a player map matching the LM map as the official player map has no hexes on it . All you need is something showing where all the named places are and their positions relative to each other.

That's true, although the Wilderland maps actually vary quite a bit in placing even large items like the long marshes (if they appear at all) and the Mirkwood Mountains, which makes it a lot harder to make sure the hex'd LM map matches with what's on the player map.

In the days before accurate maps the fact that a location was fouteenr days ride was all that you needed or got. Nothing about half a day faster if you push your horse or add a day if you are riding a pony. Accuracy on a map didn't really occur before the 18th century when military cartographers went and measured things.

The fact that the players map is slightly different to the actual distances shouldn't make the slightest difference to the players, they get there when they get there and shouldn't expect an accurate to the minute arrival day and time.

This topic hAs come up before, and as Hermes points out, unless the character has access to Numenorean tech, the best a PC can get is a map like the one Faramir looks over in the movie

Anyone else have any favorite Wilderland maps beyond the one that ships with the game?
